I'd certainly never question McVeigh's (or Bevan's) heart. But against Pike, Notting or a Scott they might be battling above their weight.

The complacency ozzing across the border may be our best weapon. Personally, I'd see a win against the Brions as just the lift the team (and supporters) need at this stage of the season. I don't think a shattering defeat on Saturday would be an uplifting kick in the pants at all, but rather a sharp nudge back into the middle ranks of the competition (or worse).

Bollocks to you Roosy. I am extremely dissapointed, although I imagine not as much as JMcV is.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

Dissapointed and baffled by this. There is no good reason in my book other than injury which obviously isn't the case.

Why you would deny McVeigh, a top 5 draft choice, who has to become a star for us sooner rather than later for us to be a genuine premiership thread, this type of experience is beyond explanation.

          Damien,

Puzzled is all I can muster.

Hope is that there is an injury they are not disclosing so McVeigh comes in.

Positive reinforcement is recognising when someone plays well. If this is part of "the match ups" that coaches get preoccupied with, then how in the hell are young footballers going to develop if they can't go in against the best.

Which neither Dempster nor Spriggs are??

Focus on the inclusions people... remember we apparently have an "embarrassment of riches" at the moment, so I suspect Roos might be thinking that now is a good time to blood two debutants.

I prefer dropping players to being forced through injury. And we still have Schmidt, Willoughby and Moore to debut

Probably a sign of a late change - wasn't McVeigh 'dropped' 5-6 times last year only to play as a 'late replacement'?

He also kicked two last year at the Gabba.

EDIT: It was only one but I could have sworn it was two.

McVeigh missed one of the pre-season games, suffering from "general soreness". Maybe it's a sign that he is still physically struggling to get used to the pace of the game and the club is nursing him along.

Complete speculation, but there might be something in it.

mcveigh wasnt that great last week........

But i think he has done enough to keep his spot.
Perhaps Roos believes last in first out! who knows

maybe he is trying to make mcveigh angry, so he will be more aggressive and fierce next time

though if i was dempster id want roos to cross his heart and hope to die and eat a cow manure pie that i was playing, how many times has he been emergency??

fosdike must be feeling nervous, he doesnt seem to be very close to the best 22 at the moment
Theres not much left to say

Agree re. McV -- strange choice. I thought they might even drop Nicks for Dempster (for 'that' handball if nothing else). Perhaps they do want experience as suggested here earlier.
To all those people who waited 72 years to see a South Melbourne/Sydney Swans premiership HERE IT IS!!

I reckon Nicks should have been the first one gone too. I mean that blanketing job he did on Shannon Grant was a doozy!

Ah yes. A rest after round 2. Should set him up nicely for rounds 4-22

I think it's like that for most of the game.

Then again, it's also a lot like U13 football - huge locust-like swarms following the ball around the field.
