Roos made a masterstroke of a move in the lastQ. He put LRT to FF which meant the Lions had to put a big man back on him. It just seemed to mess up their back structure and LRT kept presenting. Was it him that put a shepherd on so Nicks could hand ball to Goodes for a goal?

I thought he was OK down back and did his bit in the tight first half. Possessions sometimes in the close in contests are not the be all and end all of performance.

Ask yourselves who was LRT playing on when down back ?
It wasnt Bradshaw or Akermanis, and therefore could have only got at most 1 goal. As a defender he's kept his man quiet two weeks in a row. Cant ask for more than that.
      I too am pro LRT.

I think LRT is fine. Imagine if Doyle played tonight? What would've happened THEN? Imagine...

if i had to choose dempster or LRT, dempster gets the nod, i think LRT has been serviceable, he provides a tall contest down back, but needs more confidence in his marking and disposal. He should play against adelaide though before any decision is reached on his immediate future!! dont want him buggering around against melbourne, eagles etc

Come on swansrule100 you know the game better than that.

One is a young key position player and the other is young half back/wingman.

That is like comparing an apple with an orange and a decision the coach would ever have to make.

Until Schuable or Saddington comes back into the side LRT's place remains as we do not have the height at present to drop him.

thanks for thinking i know the game :P

the dempster/LRT comparison was just because i read that the debut would make lrt worried, and if i had to choose one id go for dempster.

Also i have never once this year called for LRT to be dropped

he needs to know he has some time to cement a spot

                Finally someone makes the link.

LRT's spot in the side is safe until the time when Schauble is once again fit and there is a chance that by that time LRT could improve enough to warrant his spot in the team.

Also good stuff pointing that Dempster and LRT are two different players and play different roles in the team

i was only choosing between the two based on whod perform better if forced to make a choice, was not considering positions etc

If I had to pick between the two and didn't take positions into account, I would take Dempster. But taking positions into account I would take LRT only because of his size.

Still I want to see LRT at CHB in a side with Schauble at FB and Tadhg and Leo in more attacking roles off half back, with C-Bolt and Crouch/Bevan in the pockets, before writting LRT off, like some others on here.

It was good coaching from Roos to throw him forward in the last quarter as it unsettled the Lions defence trying to match up three talls. Bazza's winning goal came from Scott who somehow had to cover for either Leppa or Mal and the difference in height lead to the free kick.

While LRT is having trouble at present using the ball it does show that this is a team game and sometimes players can help to turn games even by just competing and causing match-up problems for the oppoistion.

Overall though a big high five must go to both Ball & Jolly in the last half. Once they started to bash the ball instead of tapping it, this opened up the space at the stoppages and we were able to use our pace around the packs to clear the ball.

I see no reason to drop Hyphen. There has only been one example given here of what he did wrong, the dish off handball after taking a mark. There are probably other examples but the whole team made blunders.
I can't recall who he was marking early on but I didn't find myself swearing "bloody hyphen shoulda ....."

Two years ago I had hopes for LRT, but agree he looks dismal at present.

Against the Hawks, who were dreadful, he had a perfect chance to lok like a footballer, unfortunately he didn't. When caught in possession he always looks a worry.
Compare that to Dempster last night when he backed himself, made a couple of blues but looked to have a footy brain. Even when he rushed that ball he looked cool and calm.
