Getting rid of Leo Barry, surely you must be joking. He is a bloddy talented player, we would be a lot worse without him. Have a look at blokes like Warfe, Mathews and Seymour, even Schauble before mentioning Barry.

Just coz a player has a contract doesn't mean that their playing future is secure with a particular club, no one is immune from delisting or a trade deal.

Some clubs (Essendon are the masters of this) extend a players contract during a season, only to delist/trade that same player in October. All that a contract provides is that a player will be compensated for playing for a club, or if that club delists him.

sadders has had a poor start to the season, fair enough... but he is definitely not one to be given away just yet! he is 22 for crying out loud, plenty of improvement left in those bones...

as i have said in another thread, we need some serious KPP for defense... there are quite a few players who are being used as plugs, ie goodes, saddington, schauble etc

if we got some KPP we could go about letting these players play their natural role and have better performances out of them

sure sadders is light on, but so is bolton... bolton is being used in his natural position so he can play to his potential

Warfe is contracted to the end of next year.

The chance of anybody trading anything for him would have to be zero.

At least with Essendon's players not getting traded it was because they were overpaid, not because they wouldn't be able to get a gig outside of the Deniliquin thirds.

In regard to Stevens being a defensive player. I agree that he has not played in home and away game but in a pre season game in Canberra this year against Melbourne he was switched to CHB for a half and played very well. He seemed to have more confidence and took some great marks and punched the ball away in the packs. At the present time it might be worth trying him out in the backs . Last week he spent virtually no tme on the paddock when Saddo was being killed by Stevens of Adelaide.
I think all options should be considered .

I'm not saying we shouldn't play them in defence, I'm saying we should go and rely on them. Sure once in a while it could work but try and make them a defender won't be helpful. I would give LRT and Powell a shot before them.
