Maxfield knocking Aker over and jogging away as if he didn't even notice was almost as much of a highlight as the post-siren win. He has a much needed bit of mongrel about him but I think he needs a different position (HFF?) or more bench time.Last edited by Sanecow; 10 April 2005, 04:14 PM.Comment

Its funny - at the ground I was reading Stuey the last rites up until 3/4 time, but then watching the replay, I saw a lot of good things that he did over the first 3/4. So apologies to Stu on that - not nearly as bad as I had made out. And don't forget that it was his soccer off the ground that Nicks ran onto to create the goal for Goodes in the last quarter - desperate play that led to a goal.
However, he is still clearly struggling and will need to lift in the coming weeks. Captain or not, you have to be able to hold you place in the 22 on footballing ability - setimentality can't be brought into it.
I'm on the Chandwagon!!!
If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I still think Maxfield is barely going and the only thing preventing early retirement (a la Schwatta) is the captaincy and the prospect of 300 games.
i agree with the rok comment, at the risk of being shot at by female swans fans, he hasnt even been a shadow of his last year self. He hasnt done anything much yetTheres not much left to sayComment

Erin and I both agree...
now...about that sign Erin...And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

Maxwell? Im a crows girl and even i know its Maxfield...Originally posted by Snowy
Maxwell was the proverbial clanger king last night, if he wasn't captain you'd surely promote McVeigh ahead of him and develop him for the future.
To tell you the truth, i thought that he was playing for the lions Sat night... imho he just doesnt seem to have the leadership skills to captain a game with enough courage that he will pick a game up and turn it around.
Your captain needs to have excellent skills, granted, but also needs to have the inspiration to motivate a whole team. Its a tough job, but if your captains lacking, you'll find so to is your team...eg: Crawf.live fast, die happy.Comment
