We were watching at the Aussie Rules club too, and there was a steady stream of people leaving after half time. I wonder how they felt when they got home and saw the result? We were nervous at 3/4 time but there was a fair bit of talk about the 2003 comeback against the Demons, so we hadn't given up hope.
We went absolutely nuts when Baz kicked that goal, but I was so confident he would kick it that I moved my chair away from the table so I wouldn't knock over the beer when I jumped for joy.Murphy, you are... a... elfComment

During those last 2 minutes where we kept bombing it long and Brisbane would rebound it back I was dead sure it was going to be a draw.Comment

I honestly thought we were gone at that stage & moreso at 3/4. Lions must be spewing over their poor kicking - which kept us in with a small chance.Comment

Me too. In the last two minutes, when I saw the way the boys were forcing the ball back into the forward line every time the Lions got it out, I knew at that point the game could only have two possible results: draw or a Swans win.

Half-time we still looked like we had a chance, but only if we changed ourgame plan... I still had faith in Roosy.
When Tadgh started making those runs from halfback I felt the pangs of hope stirring.

Regardless of how poor we were in the first half, to be there and see the comeback live was just fantastic. You never say ?no chance? until a comeback is physically impossible, but at the same time I was pretty resigned to a long trip home.
But to all those who say we deliberately changed our game plan, I?m not so sure. We tried to do the same thing against North Melbourne last week and continually stuffed it up. In the last quarter we executed the run and gun so much better and I also suspect that the Brisbane defensive pressure dropped off. Once they woke up there was only 2 goals in it and Swans had the momentum.
We blew several chances in those last desperate couple of minutes. Our guys by that time were playing on pure instinct and adrenalin, if they had followed the gameplan them we would have won by 2 or 3 goals.Pay peanuts get monkeysComment
