I think McVeigh or Schneider would struggle at CHB. There is too much pressure on our backs due to the lack of height as it is. Roo's has made a big mistake in not bringing in another full-back the past couple of years.

Nicksy is important to the team - yes he made two stupid mistakes, but he made up for them even more than any of the others that seemed to make similar stupid mistakes. I think he played an excellent game all up.
This seems to be the consensus on this board. I think that is rubbish. This is the same attitude that lets us lose finals. Players need to be able to put in for a whole game, when it counts. If someone can't play four quarters during the season, how can they during the preliminary final? How many times have we seen the swans only play two or three quarters of good footy in a final? Dempster and Bevan makes Nicks expendable.

Nicks made some really dumb, inexcusable mistakes, but then again, so did a lot of the others. He also did some good things though - a few good thrusts into forward 50 from the centre of the ground. And his mark in the last quarter was quality - pity he didn't convert. I reckon all Nicks is lacking is some confidence.

At various stages during the game I was all for hanging Nicks from a flagpole.

1.Runs into open goal from 25 metres and performs a perfect short pass to a defender in the goal square.
2.Misses a sitter set shot from 30m (why was I thinking Jason Ball at that point?)
3.On the burst, 50 out, and babies the kick so that it falls short.

But on reflection, the rest of his game is fine. He?s getting the ball, is showing good desperation and the 1%ers (esp in Q4) were fantastic.

It seems he has totally lost confidence in front of goal. Fix that and he is one of our best.

1 good quarter out of 4 is not good enough from nicksy. But he did get us back in that game and showed alot more commitment (the diving attempt at mark with a lion sprinting from the side who took him high was a great example of this).

Goal kicking ability has gone completly AWOL though. Those 4 last quarter goals against the Cows seems a very long time ago now.

Definitely a mixed bag from Nicksy last night - some elementary errors, but was heavily involved in the last quarter. Still has something to offer IMHO and I would be looking closely at other players and their performances before Nicks at this point in time.

IMHO I thought Nicks instigated a lot of our goals in the last qtr.

I really don't know why someone who has probably played more games for us than anyone on our list (M.O'L) excepted cops so much derision.

                  Well done Nicksy.

I think his effort in the last qtr outweighed the stupid mistakes, earlier on.

So why wasn't Bevan dropped? At least once a game he does that.

Nicksy certainly won the game for us. Mistakes you say? Heaven forbid you people are droll. Why don't you count how many mistakes you make today? Give you something to do rather than analysing and focusing on the negatives of a game.

I guess it depends on if people only do 13 things today and the magnitude of the mistakes they make.

Defended him last week, but idiotic errors could have cost us the game. He will play again this week, but is close to ending his career if he keeps doing these things. (examples from the past McPherson and Luff, both lacked the poise under pressure and were replaced by youth)

Maybe his "inner leaguey" thinks it's only third tackle?

Tell him they have already had 5, and he needs to kick deep for position.
