Are the core senior players immune from being dropped? Rules for some, different rules for others it seems.
Some players with more matches may get a run before others, just for that reason. Particularly when they are playing a team with the experience the Lions have.

He has been quiet so far, but not dismal. He is also being ignored often when on a lead for Hall. He can't mark it and score if it ain't kicked in his direction.

he could be in the form of his life, but he need to get the ball given to him. might be worth moving down back for some time if he starts quietly against the crows!

I've never seen him play off a half-back flank, and to be honest, why would you want to considering we have Kennelly, Bolton, Barry, and now Dempster all capable of doing this?

He's a forward and plays his best footy there.

O'Keefe probably had his worst game of his career against North. This week he was better.

Given his rapid improvement last year it is only a matter of a game or two before he is back in the groove.

Once our quick game came about in the second half he started to find touch, and his finish at the start of the last Q shows he retains that part of his game.

Also the opposition are probably paying him a lot more respect.

            Patience.

You've gotta mark hard when you have players like Magic coming back into the side. Someone has to go. Do you drop someone based on current form or experience? I think ROK will find form again and star in our fwd line, but maybe he needs a spell in the 2's.

You have to judge players slightly differently due to their individual roles. With MOL coming back, it will free up ROK to play against a lesser player, giving him more opportunity to shine.

Same would go for LRT when Schaubs comes back.

it is theoretically what should happen. If these guys continue to struggle once they do play on the "lesser" opposition, then it will be time to talk about dropping them.

You only drop a player if he is completely awful or if there is someone better to come in from the seconds.

Putting aside the fact that I reckon the criticism of O'Keefe is a little premature (given that many of the rest of the team have been up and down too thus far), there are none of the juniors capable of contributing what he is able to.

If he doesn't find his feet soon he could find himself squeezed out by the returns of O'Loughlin and Saddo. But most of the younger players - Moore, Willoughby, Schmidt, maybe even Potter, McVeigh and Schneider - are really competing for the last two midfield / pocket places in the team, currently filled by Buchanan and Bevan.

Criticism of O'Keefe is not premature - it's timely. Talk of dropping him is probably premature though.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.
