I'm glad somebody wished to comment on Tagdh's effort today. It was verging on the pathetic. When you put him in tandem with Leo Barry you have a indecisive short kicking over-possessing mistake-a-thon waiting to happen. Adelaide are no push-overs, but they simply had to wait for the errors to come from our Hb and FB line to score gimme goals.
Tagdh should NOT be doing the kick ins. he takes an age and often ends up chipping it to a player not in a better position than him. Who often then handpasses or kicks under pressure, meaning heart-attacks all around.
I though Roos had learnt from the mistakes Eade made by play Tagdh as a back pocket player. He hasn't it seems. Kennelly is a free-running player who likes to set up attacking forays with his pace. He loves a goal and the freedom to express himself. Deep in defence where he has to not only worry about marking up his man, but is taking a massive risk in paying on at all costs, or just merely chipping or handballing the ball around.
I was thinking that he should be dropped. But no, I thought he should be played no further back than the wing.
If Roos cannot work that out by now, he should no longer be coaching this football team. I for one am FED up with players being played out of position. It is murdering MY gteam's chances each week.

It's not just his effort today- it's his whole season with the possible exception of the final quarter of the Brisbane game. I used to be in the "move Tadhg to the wing" boat, but I really think he needs a dose of reality and an ego check. Maybe giving him his own ad was a bad idea... Send him back to the seconds for a few weeks and let him see that Dempster can do his job every bit as well as he can.
I would love to be wrong on this. I'd happily eat humble pie if it means Tadhg goes back to the exciting, free-flowing player of 2003, or the hardworking defender of the game against Melbourne. Anything rather than the half-hearted, egocentric player that appeared to be on the field today.
Came home so dissappointed that I stayed away from this forum. Reading posts now I've nothing more to add to what has already been said. Sydney were utter crap today. It is unlikely they will make the finals unless there is improvement. Our disposal skills are dreadful. Our back and half back lines today were amateurish. I could go on but cant be bothered right now. Good night.

I don't think Kennelly has ever been a good defender. His value has been the run from half back. However, we haven't been able to successfully replicate that on a regular basis since 2003. He should have been moved to the wing last year.

You were right NMW, Adelaide's foot and hand skills are much better than Sydneys.

LOL - thanks for that. A bright moment in an ordinary day.

Last week showed the value of Kennelly in the back half - when he's in the mood he can crack open a zone around the defensive zone because he can run and carry the ball, burn off all but the speediest, and then kick long. It's the most important part of the ground for that to happen and, if he were doing it consistently, he is of greater value there than on a wing.
Problem is, of course, that he ain't doing it at the moment.
Not sure that moving him up the ground makes sense right now - he would actually have to work harder to make contests there, rather than in the back line where the contests come to him and he needs to work when he's in them. If it were just the defensive part of his game that was a problem then the move might be productive but there's something more fundamental missing at the moment.
