Nick Davis - we are waiting for you !

C'mon, Nick show us what you are worth

A second round draft pick !

Would love you to show some ticker

Get the hard ball, make a tackle. lay on a shepherd, do some
    team stuff.

"Captain " Kirk supposedly has little skill, but he's really showing up some big name players at the moment (like you)

Saturday nite's your big chance - how about repaying some of that big $$$ back with a 100% effort !

Love to see him fire. He has the talent. All he has to do is concentrate, play as a team player and use what he has on offer to full effect

In all respect to nick, roscoe if you are waiting to see nick get the hard ball, make a tackle, lay on a shepherd you will be waiting a while for him to repay the club back. He wasnt recruited to do the tough stuff and I dont expect him to do it either.
He was recruited as the perfect foil for BBBH. He strengths are on the lead, he has a huge kick, evasive and has magic about him. Very similiar player to O'loughlin, dare I say davis is the "white" O'loughlin - probably the best way to describe nick and what he will end up like in a few years.
If he ends up like Micky I will be very delighted.

Remember Nick is coming back from a serious groin problem which must be playing on his mind when he attacks the footy. Give him time and don't expect too much too soon. He is a Forward Pocket for the time being.

Davis is getting paid less than what he did at Collingwood. So remember he has taken a pay cut to play in a team which is only a shadow of his former team. |He will probably miss finals as a result. He only had a very limited preparation. And the criticism of Pie fans was that was not a team player and didn't like to chase or tackle. So you will probably have to live with that, that is unlikely to change.

Interesting Article in todays Daily Telegraph

On a (possibly ) wet ground he may shine against the demons

Another poor performance may see him known as "Peter Brady"

Say what you like about his defensive skills - the thing that Nick Davis has shown so far is that he knows where the goals are. In other words he doesn't need a lot of possessions to hurt sides.

I don't know his stats - but I would guess that his goals/ behinds ratio would be close to our best.

Stands to reason that as his fitness improves he will get to more contests and bag more goals- which in turn makes his opponent less likely to run off him and instead be more accountable.

My gut feeling is that he will be up and down in 2003 but in the long run Nick Davis will turn out to be great "jag" by the swannies- the fact that we got him for a 2nd round pick and still 22 just enhances that.

Nick is a great aquisition but needs fitness BUT if he ever tries one of those one handed marks again, I'll get his dad to spank him.He has genuine ball skills as opposed to most of our rabble and is a paid goal kicker NOT a defensive player.
And what is with these white boots dude?

Yeh goodes has the white boots too, so as other players in the league as n.brown from the bulldogs and c.johnston from the lions.
It is widely regarded that these white boots represent a flashy player, gun kick of the footy, etc and all these players fit that role.

I was wrapt to see 3 players in the white boots.

Good to see them backing what they see as their ability to perform

And Davis played very well I thought.

A lot less lazy, and he reaped teh benefits.

Then great thing about Davis is that he gives us fans a very rare feeling...that when he goes back to kick a set shot he is MORE likely than not to kick it. Amazing. Goodes, Nicks, Bolton, Hall (this year anyway) as they walk back I'm just praying. Davis is a like a normal player (that other clubs seem to have loads of)...if it's up to 45 out on 45 or less angle he'll probably kick it. That's what ou think when Lloyd or Voss or Milne line up. It's a good feeling to watch him. Always assuming he actually gets the ball.

He is such a lazy sod, but everytime he gets near it, I feel ok because I KNOW he's going to have a go at the goals, and he's good enough to do it more often than not.

His goal from 55m in the 2nd quarter, the way he took the mark then immediately marked the ground and walked back for his shot - never once looked up nervously to pass it off like many of his teammates.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

This is the big plus that Davis gives us. He can lead out to 50m and then you can expect a good chance he will kick it. There is no one else in our side (except maybe now Schneider) whom you expect that from. If he can do this on average twice per game for the season, I'll be happy.

Compare him to O'Loughlin or Bolton, who both look like they are going to hyperventilate or seize up and fall over.

Watching the last qtr again last night, I noticed something else about Nick, which he has done in other games. He wanders down to the backline when the game gets tight. He is able to drop himself nicely into the half back line to provide some relief on clearances and then finds another player further upfield. Because he is such a good kick and is so confident and relaxed, I find this is a very useful and comforting thing to see him do. Also, it's not exactly the mark of a lazy player. Also, I noted on at least two occasions he delivered nice handballs to players in the F50 in good position. I agree that he could try a bit harder, but in some ways his laconic approach makes him look lazier than he is - very similar to DRJ.
