Four things that damaged my tv remote

The game yesterday against Adelaide was so so soooooo frustating that I threw the tv remote at the wall and shattered the thing into small pieces. I do not (and still don't) rate Adelaide at all therefore, four things contributed to my throwing and destroying the remote control because of the Sydney Swans lacklustre and spiritless performance, which are -

    1. Paul Roos insistence on the Sydney Swans FC playing a handball happy game plan from defence. Roosy advises his players to handball out of defence until they are in clear space to then only kick 15-20m sideways to another player in space, therefore ensuring that Adelaide has numbers back in our forward line. WTF is wrong with one handball and one kick from defence straight down to a contested situation whereby either Hall, O'Loughlin, O'Keefe or N.Davis is/will be one out with there oponent ???

    2. The Swans players not picking up and respecting Doughty, Skipworth and Shirley. These Adelaide lesser lights (along with McLeod) simply destroyed the Swans time and time again. Whoever was on those three players should be made accountable and either dropped or tortured, maimed or killed at the least (joking !!!) - bloody disgrace.

    3. Paul Roos' loyalty to Jared Crouch. Crouch was clearly underdone and should have been taken off McLeod before half-time, instead of letting McLeod virtually win the game for Adelaide from the Half-Back Flank in the last half. He killed the Swans with his attacking moves from defence in the last half, whereby during that time Crouch was at least 10-15 metres away in his dust and clearly underdone and out of touch. IMO, Kirk should have been moved onto McLeod once Riccuito moved to the forward line.

    4. Adam Goodes' missing on the 3/4 time siren and his chip kick to David Spriggs when Spriggs had two smaller oponents on him in the last quarter when we had a run-on. The longer option to Hall and/or O'Loughlin would have been better. Goodesy constantly f's up when games are tight (who could forget the kick he stumped against Melbourne last year at Telstra Stadium.....) therefore, Goodes should be taken off altogether when games are tight with 5-10 minutes left on the clock. Save our hearts Roosy and take Goodes off in these situations....

Also, an honourable mention goes to Paul Bevan for constantly trying to take on (and failing miserably) the opposition player by running straight at the player and therefore losing possession of the ball. An earlier handball or kick or baulking around the player would have been a better thing to do from Bevo....My throat was sore for 2-3 hours after the game after these Bevo classics....

In conclusion, Roosy could you please please please just try and respect opposition lesser lights and play a simple game plan of one handball one kick straight down the ground to the best player in the team (B.Hall) a la Pagan, Norm Smith and Alan Jeans' coaching styles, as the goals are not on the wing and there is only 20 minutes per bloody quarter ??!!

The thing about the contested marks in the forward line is relevant all of MOL, Goodes, Hall and Davis can all take contested marks and demonstrated that yesterday. I thought the purpose of having a forward line like that was to get it in there quickly, especially as most of the midfield struggles to hit a short target anyway and insists on kicking to contested situations.

The other thing is how good Hall is when just one-on-one with his opponent. Not too many players in the league can beat him regularly. However, we don't give him enough realistic opportunities.

Davis took some very good contested marks, yesterday. He has been in very good touch, just not scoring. As Dermott, said "he can't score if he's down the other end of the ground".

I even noticed Baz clearing the ball, from deep in the back pocket?!?!?

        BTW, good summation Cressakel!!

What made me laugh was seeing no targets in our forward 50 and the midfielders going long to nobody or poor mismatched contests. Then when our forward 50 gets stacked the midfielders start kicking short to the wings/half forward where no swans were either. Didn't work as a team. I would hate to be a swans forward. Hall could get a Coleman at another club...

I hope I was not the only one sober throughout that game.

There was an absolute shocker in the third quarter when Mathews had the ball on the wing and was running forward, booted it long into the F50 - there were three Crows there and not a single Swan in screenshot.

What on earth was Hall doing in D50. He should never ever be down there.

I hope that logic will mainly be used as a reason for why he isn't going to score as many goals, not a reason to keep him close to goals.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

But he did have a couple of shots at goal and missed both. But really, the Hall/Goodes misses in the 3rd were deplorable.

Exactly! Whats the point in making so much effort in getting a big target player when he just roams around the half forward <-> midfield? We can only afford one big man doing that - Goodes.

Would you rather him NOT follow his man? There was a couple of times Rutten ran off him, resulting in Ade goals iirc.

Good point. Rutten was another bloke not given enough respect by Roos and allowed to gather possessions at will on the HBF/Wing.

I do want him to follow his man, however defenders tend to not keep going into their F50 if they are guarded when they get there, otherwise they tend to clog up their forward area. Also, we have so many players back, often guarding an area rather than a man, so we should be able to compensate for a few extra opposition players dropping into the forward line.

Don't disagree with you, only that I'm suggesting the reason BBBB was in the backline was a conscious decision to follow his man rather than an 18 man flood.

That's two remote controls in two weeks. Mine went last week when Nicks'shot on goal was really a pass to the Lions defender in the goal square. It does help with the fitness having to get up and down.
