The game yesterday against Adelaide was so so soooooo frustating that I threw the tv remote at the wall and shattered the thing into small pieces. I do not (and still don't) rate Adelaide at all therefore, four things contributed to my throwing and destroying the remote control because of the Sydney Swans lacklustre and spiritless performance, which are -
1. Paul Roos insistence on the Sydney Swans FC playing a handball happy game plan from defence. Roosy advises his players to handball out of defence until they are in clear space to then only kick 15-20m sideways to another player in space, therefore ensuring that Adelaide has numbers back in our forward line. WTF is wrong with one handball and one kick from defence straight down to a contested situation whereby either Hall, O'Loughlin, O'Keefe or N.Davis is/will be one out with there oponent ???
2. The Swans players not picking up and respecting Doughty, Skipworth and Shirley. These Adelaide lesser lights (along with McLeod) simply destroyed the Swans time and time again. Whoever was on those three players should be made accountable and either dropped or tortured, maimed or killed at the least (joking !!!) - bloody disgrace.
3. Paul Roos' loyalty to Jared Crouch. Crouch was clearly underdone and should have been taken off McLeod before half-time, instead of letting McLeod virtually win the game for Adelaide from the Half-Back Flank in the last half. He killed the Swans with his attacking moves from defence in the last half, whereby during that time Crouch was at least 10-15 metres away in his dust and clearly underdone and out of touch. IMO, Kirk should have been moved onto McLeod once Riccuito moved to the forward line.
4. Adam Goodes' missing on the 3/4 time siren and his chip kick to David Spriggs when Spriggs had two smaller oponents on him in the last quarter when we had a run-on. The longer option to Hall and/or O'Loughlin would have been better. Goodesy constantly f's up when games are tight (who could forget the kick he stumped against Melbourne last year at Telstra Stadium.....) therefore, Goodes should be taken off altogether when games are tight with 5-10 minutes left on the clock. Save our hearts Roosy and take Goodes off in these situations....
Also, an honourable mention goes to Paul Bevan for constantly trying to take on (and failing miserably) the opposition player by running straight at the player and therefore losing possession of the ball. An earlier handball or kick or baulking around the player would have been a better thing to do from Bevo....My throat was sore for 2-3 hours after the game after these Bevo classics....
In conclusion, Roosy could you please please please just try and respect opposition lesser lights and play a simple game plan of one handball one kick straight down the ground to the best player in the team (B.Hall) a la Pagan, Norm Smith and Alan Jeans' coaching styles, as the goals are not on the wing and there is only 20 minutes per bloody quarter ??!!
