    No Captain

One topic that doesn't seem to be a topic of discussion is the lack of the Swans' captain on Saturday. I can't remember the last time this happened?

It is generally agreed that Stewie hasn't been playing well for the first 4 rounds. But the team and coach all have great belief in him (and have said so in the past few days). It will be interesting to see how the team play without him. And who takes on the job in his absence. I presume Leo will do the toss (150th game) but do you think there will be an acting captain? If so, who?

The Dees are a team we have to face with discipline. Does Stewie's absence reduce the chance of this happening?

I think it's a good opportunity to try out Hall.
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I'd like to see O'Loughlin get the job.

Obviously read todays telegreaph... i think they quoted Healy in saying that he would be the best option, giving them a chance to groom him for the job, ala the Crows and Bickley/Roo...

If Gerard Healy said to give the captaincy to someone, that would be enough reason to gife the captaincy to someone else.

Sorry but that guy lacks credibility in my eyes.

Where did you develop your perceived view on Healy's lack of credibility?

IMO, I think he is one of the most astute AFL watchers and commentators and I have appreciated his honest appraisals of both the Swans and other footy teams.

ANYWAY...I think the captaincy must go to Barry Hall! He leads by example, hard at the ball and when he is out of the game (I.E the ball not getting to the forward line, he actively moves up the ground to get the footy. He also probably the most marketable captain to the Sydney market.

Barry Hall for captain on Saturday!!

It may be just my observation, but I feel he looks down the nose at the swans, and the way he played is the way he comes across- me, me, me.

I rate him as one of the most selfish footballers ever to pull on the red and white

                    WOW! That's a big statement!

I certainly would have to disagree (healthy argument!) I think he is incredibly self less and sometimes gives the ball up too much...I usually scream "Kick it yourself Barry!".

I think Hall works incredibly hard off the ball and I particularly remeber the shepherd he put on Chris Johnson in the last Lions game when Nick Davis was running away with ball...tough and fair!

Also there was an article this week (or it may of been on the news) where it said that Hall is one of the most respected players at the club, particularly by the younger players who tend to gravitate towards him.

He has also shown that he has become more self less by NOT getting suspended...he has well and truely become the team player not the Barry Hall, I am stronger then everyone else player

                      Wait a minute!!!

I rate Gerard Healy as one of the most selfish!!!

                      Definately NOT Barry Hall.

Gerard Healy is one of the most selfish in my eyes Yada Yada yada

I just think when he comments on the Swans he believes that no matter what any player does, he does not believe it rates to his achievments when he was a player.

I think Hall would be a good choice as skipper, I just wouldn't pick him to prove Healy wrong!!

Its been confirmed as Captain Kirk.

Brett Kirk will captain the Swans in the absence of skipper Stuart Maxfield, who has been suspended for one match. Despite suggestions that Barry Hall - who with Kirk and Leo Barry is a contender for the captaincy next season - should take the job, Roos said Kirk had done a good job leading the team in pre-season games and the match committee felt there was no need to change the pecking order.
