As to other skippers, apart from the ones that I mentioned, you could look at Primus who spent two years out, King who's injured more often than not, RVDB who 'has a strong work ethic and the respect of his peers' (!!) and Kouta, who, whilst he has been brilliant, is now probably past his best due to a horror run with injuries, as players who might not be so reliable on lifting the team.
Mind, I'm not saying that Kirky hasn't been fantastic and is not suitable for the skipper's post, I'm saying that I reckon BBBBHall would be fantastic.
