Hall - A case of the Matty Richardsons???

Never seen him so lack lustre as he was tonight, at times completely disinterested.

Yep our forward delivery was SH but when you see your captain putting himself on the line time and time again you should be doing the same.

Has Baz gone too far the other way??? Put your hand up if you want a decent chunk of the old Baz back!!! A bit of mongrel to stir up the Demon defence might have helped.

Contract negotiations are never easy and I reckon Baz is still thinking about 'em.

What has he kicked this year ... about 13.17 or so?

Its a combination of things. Hopelessly out of form, struggling for touch, distracted, getting poor delivery, looks to have lost weight (and perhaps some strength) and I reckon carrying an injury.

That 13.17 might have something to do with the fact that the delivery has been so hap hazard so far this year that he is often ending up with the ball pushed wide to the boundry line.

Our goal kicking in general as a team this year has been poor but I bet you if you looked at the stats we are being pushed out of the central corridor more and more this year which is contributing to the poor result.

yep totally agree. I cant remember how many set shots at goal we kicked from no more than 40m out in the corridor tonight. I bet it wasn't many.

Hall was absolutely hopeless tonight, and his FF partner isn't doing much damage either - apart from that great tap (or was it a handball?) that SHOULD have gifted Bazza an easy goal 10m out.

The delivery forward was poor and the marks taken mostly deep in the pockets.

But the structure of the forward line looked all at sea. Maybe it was partly that the Melbourne defence played well (which it undoubtedly did) and the failure to get the ball forward quickly didn't help, but it's hard for the mids to kick to a leading forward if none of them are leading. Baz looked flat-footed most of the night and seemed content to play behind his own man as well as the spare man.

It's all very well for him to gesture to his team mates not to kick it high but the alternative would have been kicking to a leading Melbourne defender.

With Pebbles and Davis pretty much playing as midfielders, we desperately need another target down there.

He seems to be getting more and more frustrated throughout the games

                how long till he cracks?
A little man is sitting in a room with two doors. One door says "Do Not Enter" and the other says "Do Not Exit". So he just sits there, holding his hat.

is it a lack of form, poor delivery or an ego thing? I don't know, but when he puts one of our players into the fence as the ball goes over the boundary line and doesn't even bother to look back to ensure he's ok, I think that's a little bit mental. And shows no respect for his team mate.

Yup, that was awful. The day Hall becomes captain is the day Roos has totally lost it. Completely unaccountable and would rather winge at the umpires than play. And now thinks he is a midfielder as well. I don't mind having someone like Hall on the team but keep him at FF. Let him lead and kick goals. Get the other forwards out of his way to clear space for him to lead to!

Pretty much zero. Just look at the score sheet, taken from the AFL site's Live Scores thingo.

The spare man was O'Keefe's man.As mentioned O'KEEFE pushes up into pack following the ball leaving Barry to contend with 2 men.I have said on a another thread that we can't allow this to happen.Barry is our main goalkicker and if he is tag teamed we simply can't kick enough goals to win.If O'KEEFE and O'Loughlin lead to the pockets and Hall leads up the guts we can spread a defence and have plenty of options.Plus when our ruckmen return we can leave one of them in the sqaure.ATM there seems to be one lead and that it is to the pocket.

All our forwards were guilty of leading - or drifting might be a better description - to the same spot for most of the night. Lack of talk, lack of confidence or lack of understanding of structure, who knows?

Often THREE of them. Made me look to see where our spares were, and naturally they were stationed in our D50.

I think this kind of defensive mindset works well enough if Bazza is successfully beating the two players on him, but as it showed last night we cant win if he does not take those contested marks.

FWIW, although his bump on Schneider was not ideal, he bloody deserved it for contesting with Hall over that ball AND running it straight to the boundary rather than trying to create a goal.

Was thinking the same thing. He has lost the "mongrel" in him that he had last year. When the ball didn't come to him directly, he just stopped and looked.

                              Very disappointing effort.
