I still think Roos has/had tried to blood both of those players as much as possible. Mott wasn't kicked till he showed a complete disregard for the team when he came back from the off-season. The faith and effort was there, but neither could/would repay it.

Never mentioned 'any' - but when we are struggling and the players aren't performing, trying some new blood can help. Also, the reserves competition isn't much of a grounding for our side - it's a rather mixed competition.
Correct me if i miss any: Schneider, Bevan, Thewlis, LRT, Dempster, Powell, Ablett, Miekljohn, Mott, Sundqvist, Fixter, Buchanan.
Besides Mott and Fixter (as noted) Buchanan debuted under Eade.
He has debuted and kept faith in at least one new player each year, and each so far have had very good first years in the seniors. All of them are still easily young enough to continue to develop into stars.
In 2003 and 2004 he brought in 5 new players who are still on the list. This year there is one player so far.

In 2003-2004 West Coast had nine and St Kilda had nine also, for example.

All I'm saying is what not try a few more younger guys in the areas we are struggling in, rather than the same old names who, Roos himself admits, aren't good enough.

Mott played 17 games for Sydney in 2002 and I reckon 11 of those were in the first half of the season (though I stand to be corrected). Even when he was in the team under Roos he was spending more and more time on the bench and there were a couple of games - after Ball went down - that Roos went into games with only Goodes / LRT even when Mott was available.

I think Mott was well out of Roos' plans even before his off-field issues.

As for Fixter, there's no doubt that Roos is a fan of his but he was initially blooded by Eade and was a regular in the 2002 team before Roos took over.

I'll be there cheering the bombers on but i fully expect you guys to win by a fairly comfortable margin, somewhere between 30-50.

We played ****house against the pies and got lucky, and got the thrashing we deserved against brisbane. Lovett, Bradley and Laycock are the only good points of our season thus far. Our midfield is shocking (But Bendigo is playing good winning football, just most of the young midfielders there are being held back until they're ready for the big time), that said two should be coming in this week at least to cover the injuries so they get a well deserved chance.

The fact that Peverill is expected to be a ball winner shows exactly where our midfield is at! JJ tries his guts out but with no support, what can you do?
Hopefully the side will line up something like this:

          Zantuck Fletcher Solomon
          Welsh Bradley McPhee
          Lovett JJ Winderlich
          Rioli Lucas Bolton*
          MJ Lloyd (C) Murphy

          Laycock, Pev, McVeigh

          INT: Bullen, Henneman, Stanton, Watson

Bolton to tag Goodes wherever he plays (unless he rucks).
          Fletcher on Hall
          Bradley on O'Loughlan
          Zantuck on O'Keefe
          Welsh on Davis

Lovett and Winderlich probably won't start there, more likely Murphy and Bullen but thats not the way i'd have it.

Must say, Lovett is just a delight to watch - tremendous balance & poise and never looks like missing on the run.

What's up with Lloyd? a man out of form or suffering from what's happening further up the field?

a bit of both with lloyd, he's 3 weeks back from a broken arm... ok, that should be long enough to work back into form for someone of his calabre... but how can you get into form when you give a good lead and the ball is kicked over your head, thats when the ball gets down there.

He's been moved to CHF at times to try and work him into the game more seing as the ball wasn't getting down there. All excuses aside though, he's been terrible in his last two efforts, can't mark it and missing ones he'd usually kick 99 times out of 100.

Stick him at FF with the eagles midfield though and i'm sure you'd see an entirely different lloyd.

Change the team names and players and you've basically described the swans this year !

I'm hoping we'll win by a fairly comfortable margin (but can't help but think of Melbourne, Adelaide when we were supposed to win )

Lovett is extremely exciting to watch. Tricky little player and always full of suprises.

Welsh on Davis ? Scuffle part 2 ...
