I hope the Sainters can hold on to all of their excellent young players. They have done a bloody good job of bringing them on unlike some other teams in the competition. Including the Pies and that other ubiquitous team we never tire of talking about.

Knowing our luck we would swap fosdike and 2 round 1 selections for him.

Del Santo would do his knee and Fosdike would win the brownlow! (and the 2 first round selections would play in their first year.

Nice to have but don't loose to much to get!

I'd give up Fosdike, Buchanan, Doyle and a first round pick... St Kilda might need some stewards for their aftermatch functions...

Was Del Santo drafted with one of the picks we traded to St Kilda for Hall?

Draft history: 1995 National AFL Draft 1st round selection (St Kilda) No. 19 overall traded by Carlton for Craig Devonport; 2001 National AFL Draft traded by St Kilda for No. 13 (Nick Dal Santo), No. 17 (James Kelly) and No. 45 (Nathan Clarke).

Are you kidding, seven first draft picks wasn't it? Yes well done Saints, they came stone last with a team that was not the worst, and picked up early picks in strong drafts.

Do you recall those seasons before and including the year Eade left, they were an appalling rabble Saints with no game plan.

They picked up the dal santos and balls and maguires of the comp (and yes, i know, some were higher positions, but not all and that is my point) and we picked up jarrad mcveigh and mark powell and lewis roberts thompson. they deserve all the credit in the world.

                          Just don't agree.

They have still had the by far the most priority and high draft picks of anyone in the comp since drafts were fair dinkum, they traded Ball and Spider too, but come on no-one has had that early trade action before or since.

That has nothing to do with our drafting (which has been moderate) we are talking Saints, if the regular RWOers were representative, and we came bottom 3 for four years we would have no members left!

No, the original post said they have done a good job of bringing on their youngsters. Who among our players that would get a game in most sides, since Jude Bolton and perhaps Tiger when in form, have we brought on that would?

That would be the year we had a draw with them would it not? So the Swans were as as bad as them back then and are far worse now.
Grant Thomas is not looking too bad now compared to our over hyped coach.

Many here are saying high draft picks arn't that good any way, so I reckon G.T. is doin alright.

Steady - Wait until he wins a Premiership before you go espousing how terrific Thomas is compared to Roos.

St kilda's policy of not trading early draft picks is what's looking good and not the coach - I reckon the amount of stars the Saints have got would make an average coach look good.
