That was bloody hilarious!Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.Comment

Still cant stop laughing myself. Always disliked him, because he's such a showboat. That carry on just proves it.Our Greatest Moment:

Let's be honest here. Would anyone of us reacted differently if you'd been pinged for calling your opponent a weak dog?
One of the funniest things I've seen. His facial expression was priceless. Shocking call. Just glad we got one in our favour.Comment

i wouldnt have reacted differently..but i dont think i could have pulled off such a memorable facial
i laughed when i saw it and i was drinking coke at the time..and it went up my nose..A little man is sitting in a room with two doors. One door says "Do Not Enter" and the other says "Do Not Exit". So he just sits there, holding his hat.Comment

This incident more than any other in living memory, has brought the game into disrepute.
So many here (typicaly) can not see past the issue of punishment againts an opposition player, which they revel in.
But through this indulgence, you have allowed the most ludicrous brand of two bob morality to undermine the very foundation of the game - conflict.
To over adjudicate a game of football is to ruin it's man on man contest and to turn it into a spack between children seeking the favour of their litigious parent.
This has a trickel down effect on the society at large.
But then Australia has always been a police state. We try to deny it, but you only have to live in a couple of other Western countries to realise how comparitivly few rights have been granted the men and women of Australia againts the invasion and abuse of the authorities.
Poor fellow my country, poor fellow my footy.
That the Aussie people put up with this sort of thing, generaly, that they put up with it on the footy field, that they put up with it at all, is to me a great paradox. Here is a country and a brand of footy founded on rebellion. Here also are a people who more than anything wish to have laborious rules shackled to them. They love it, as long as they can laugh at the victimisation of their enemy and neighbor.
But as Noam says, at a certain point the populace actually asks to be oppressed. Well enjoy your insipid and souless football.

Umpires go cold on their live mikesInstead of telling Johnson his use of the word "c---" was the cause of the 50m penalty, Ellis, sanitised his explanation, telling the Bomber he had penalised him for calling Sydney's Amon Buchanan a "weak dog".Confusion still surrounded the incident yesterday, with the AFL amending a statement it made the day before that said Ellis had erred.
On Sunday, without speaking to Ellis, the umpiring department ruled the 50m penalty should not have been paid.
Yesterday it said Johnson twice swore at Ellis after the initial free kick was paid, but that Ellis only reacted to the abuse after Johnson sledged Buchanan.
AFL rules stipulate free kicks and 50m penalties can be paid against players who abuse umpires or opponents.Last edited by ScottH; 10 May 2005, 06:36 AM.Comment

I hope Ellis and Baz get together for a bonding session to bitch about their rough treatment at the hands of the umpiring committee.Comment

Rabble.I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his timeComment

It's interesting to note the AFL hanging their umpire out to dry, despite the fact that he acted in accordance to the rules. Having a boss that ****ty actually makkes me feel a little moment sympathy for the umpires.
SIGH
Ok, it's over now, I shall resume detesting them like a normal supporter. Frankly I think he should have given a 50 for the "boot-nudge" Johnston gave Monty prior to calling him a bad name.Comment

The pics are priceless. They played that dumb faced look of Johnsons up on the big screen at least twice at the game. It was hilarious.Occupational hazards:
I don't eat animals since discovering this ability. I used to. But one day the lamb I was eating came through to me and ever since then I haven't been able to eat meat.Comment

On MMM during the game the comentators also called the "boot nudge" being the possibility of the 50 mtrs. especially when it looked like Monty was hurt. Maybe it added to the decision of the ump.Comment
