    Maxfield's injury

There's an article in today's Australian that says that Maxfield is thought to have a stress fracture in his knee.

Could well be out for a few weeks.

With Davis out for a month or so, Willo still the same time away from returning and question marks over the effectiveness of Spriggs, this must mean the door could open not only for McVeigh to return but maybe also a fourth debutant very soon in Malceski.

Absolutely. The midfield positions are up for grabs. I would think that McVeigh may come back in this week and perhaps one more youngster like you suggested...Malceski...here's hoping!
    Swannies for life!

Looking forward to when they get back. And to think we beat Essendon when we had no Ball, Jolly, Davis, Maxfield and Williams.
Vicky Pollard: Oh my god I so can't believe you just said that this is like the time I threw Anita's nokia in the canal as a joke and she's like you have well got to buy me another one and I'm like get over it and then Paul came over who's adopted anyway and started saying that I fancy Mark Bennett but oh my god just because I have sex with someone doesn't mean I fancy them.

And to think Essendon were missing Hird, Solomon, Bradley, Hille, Haynes, Ramanauskas...

Like I say, people don't really follow the AFL...

I had Allen but I deleted him as I wasn't sure whether he was injured or underperforming. Probably the former I guess given their lack of ruckmen.

How many games does Stuey have to get to hit 300? Isn't he on 290+? I'd like him to get there.

(And the fact that Allen didn't play on Sat night helped Essendon, not us!!)

If McVeigh does come in and possibly Ball and Jolly who gets left out?

Although not a big fan of McVeigh I dont see the point of keeping Spriggs out there and keeping a kid out, I would prefer Sunny or Malceksi to get a run.

With both Saddington and Schauble now back who would be left out for Ball - Jolly and 1 small?

Davis out - Sunny(probably not - too early) Malceksi(keep testing the list?) or McVeigh ( if he is included or not may tell us a fair bit about his standing on the list)

Ball in ? Vogels LRT or Saddington out?

Jolly in Vogels LRT or Saddington out?

Can Vogels hold his place as Jolly or Ball would probably play a fair percentage of the game up forward with Goodes in the ruck and Saddington back?

Will we try to re-invent Saddington as a CHF?

Who they want to pick up Tredrea will probably be the deciding factor in all this, with Jolly and Ball back Goodes may get the job? or more likely Barry? LRT may be needed purely for his height?

A fascinating week ahead for selection which could reveal a lot on how the selectors see certain players.

Sorry for just rambling on with my thoughts.

                  Cheers

                    Swans won't risk Maxfield

                    Swans won't risk Maxfield
Sydney winger Stuart Maxfield's immediate playing future remains in doubt after scans last week revealed a stress fracture in his left knee.
                    Could be bye bye Stu.

Maxfield remains 11 games short of his 300 AFL game milestone.

I hope so, he is a much more mobile tall forward than Ball or Jolly would be and will hopefully line up around HF again. Ball or Jolly rest across FF. Not that it matters at the SCG of course.
I knew him as a gentle young man, I cannot say for sure the reasons for his decline
We watched him fade before our very eyes, and years before his time

It'll be interesting. I'd like us to continue with LRT but based on this choice, I'd rather that he was the one to makeway. Vogels and Saddington both deserve to keep their spots. Hopefully we'll find a way to keep all three.

It could be as straightforward as Jolly for Davis, especially if they are cautious with Ball.

I suspect Spriggs is the only other one who's place might come into question given than Roos has highlighted poor turnovers as something he wants to eliminate. I reckon Spriggs vs McVeigh will be the only major discussion at the selection table this week.

Three losses followed by a win is almost enough to go in with no changes after the win (except Davis obviously). I assume that Ball is still injured
