cant say i am impressed. this is just a soft option. kirky was doing ok.should have left him as captain until end of the year then reaccess the situation.
i think this just cheapens the value and prestige of being club captain. Especially as we have had outstanding captains in the past , ie kelly ,carroll , skilton.
anyway , if miracles occurred and we won this years premiership , who would they present the trophy to , all 6 of them..
Maybe we could have a captain for each quarter , so everyone's had a go by round 13.Comment

I have not heard anything so ridiculous as a professional club rotating captains weekly. Has no one in that organisation known as the Sydney Swans got the balls to make a decision. What are they scared that they may offend someone.
I don't think I've been involved in a side that rotated captatins weekly since U/11's and I'm sure that was done alphabetically.
Surely it must be Ablett's turn this week.Comment

Not happy.... but then I've always valued the notion of one player being captain and hated the idea of co-captains.
Are they official captains? Or do we have no official captain? Sigh... what a cop-out.We hate Anthony Rocca
We hate Shannon Grant too
We hate scumbag Gaspar

If players can't show leadership on the ground and around the club without the benefit of a captain's badge then they are not worthy of the position.
Kirk would have been the safe option for the rest of this year while the others state their credentials. And he doesn't strike me as a player who would go into a sulk if they decided to give it to someone else next year.Comment

Agree. Surely it can't be that hard just to pick one player for the next few months and let it be known (internally) that the race is open for next year.

You give ONE player a dress-rehearsal? Or better yet you "give" it to him but tell him its not really his, without being open enough to let him know who he has to do better than.
If you haven't got the confidence to give it to him mid-season, this rotation is the next best thing. Our Greatest Moment:
