    Umpiring Decision Against Hall

Does anyone know what the rule is if a player is holding the ball and touches the behind post without the ball going over the boundary line? Last night the umpire said it was out of bounds which cost us a goal. Somehow I don't think this is correct because I have seen players touch the goal post while they are kicking for goal and it has been paid a goal.

The swans are the most frustrating team to watch. About 6 or 7 of Hawthorns goal were due to our skill errors. Roos' hair will be grey by the end of the year!!

By the number of players that were slipping over and the number of easy marks dropped, I don't think the swans were ready for the conditions. It was misty and dewy. (But then again it could have been a nice dry sunny day and they would've done the same thing).

Barry Hall has no confidence with his marking this year. He has dropped some easy chances. Plus I think he needs to bulk up a bit more....get some strength back.

Micky shouldn't have played last night. He was soooo under done it was embarassing.

William's leg injury restricted his kicking. Even in the pre game practice he was struggling with his kicks.

Some positives...Schneider was again good (with the limited time he got anyway). Goodes played well around the ground. I was sitting next to the Hawthorn coaches box and as Schwab came out at half time the frustrated hawthorn supporters yelled out "Who's on Goodes."

It was good to see Kelly again . If only he was wearing the red and white instead of the bright yellow.

    Out of bounds

As far as I'm concerned, the ball was NOT out of bounds when Bazza touched the post. All the rules state the BALL must touch the post, or must be completely outside the boundary line. Neither of these occurred.

Yes there was an analysis of this incident on the sunday morning footy show in melbourne, and they couldnt find anything in the rule book why that goal shouldnt have been allowed, and actually a similar incident happened at the dogs v demons game and there was an enquiry as to if that was legal and it got the all clear for the rest of the season, so very bad decision re - hall
