The thing that annoys me is that we all know in advance that this sort of @@@@ is going to happen with the likes of Goldspink but NOTHING ever happens to address it.
No mention of the poor umpiring...

This is what I posted in another thread...
The thing that frustrates me more then anything, a goal umpire makes ONE MISTAKE and they get sent to the reserves, but the field umpires make multiple (especially Goldspink) mistakes but I can virtually guarantee that he will be running around again next week runing some senior AFL game. Odds on we will have Goldspink again within a fortnight.Swannies for life!Comment

I know it is to much to ask that Sydney never sees him again this season, but I can dreamPremiers 09,18,33,05

Think the boundary ump needs a visit to OPSM asap, if he was unsighted or some distance away prehaps a case there (and hopefully the field umpires over rule if it is wrong) hmmm back to the SFL for the boundary umpPremiers 09,18,33,05

I was chatting to my supervisor at work today, who barracks for the Hawks, and he tells me that there's Hawk supporters who base their decision on attending the game on whether Goldspink is umpiring.
Hawthorn have had a similar experience with Goldspink's last-quarter umpiring against Essendon as we did last year. In the 2001 preliminary final, Hawthorn were making a comeback against Essendon in the last quarter and Goldspink's umpiring made the difference to the result.
2001 Preliminary Final
Essendon 11.10 (76)
Hawthorn 9.13 (67)
Essendon won by 9 points
Round 6, 2004
Essendon 16.12 (108)
Sydney 15.8 (98)
Essendon won by 10 points"Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

Ah, so it wasn't Goldspink that cost us the game that day. However, the similarity is striking."Unbelievable!" -- Nick Davis leaves his mark on the 2005 semi finalComment

And as for Goldspink, I feel it must be said that there is absolutely no proof to the rumour that his attitude to Sydney was tainted when as a young lad he was taken to Albert Park Lake by his parents and he had his dick bitten off by an irate Swan he was supposed to be feeding.Last edited by Ruck'n'Roll; 19 May 2005, 10:57 AM.Comment
