BTW, I actually though LRT was the worst hyphenation.
New nickname - "The Hyphenator". I suspect he could be on drubs - whatever the opposite of No Doze is.

Hmmmmmm, with the greatest respect for Schaubs, I doubt he would hang out in the same late night sporto celeb venues as say, a Nick Davis, to know what the younger Swans would get up to.

Schaubs sounds like a pretty sensible bloke, and is a bloody good full back when fit. Cetainly gives the backline a bit a stability.

All he needs to do is use a bit of Grecian 2000.

Ecstacy is very handy in trying to enjoy watching a Swans game.
(Probably helps when playing in them as well - especially if you are a forward)

Seems like a pretty smart media move by the swans.
Putting Schauble out as the club figurehead to respond to the Laurence Angwin story.
Schauble is, as others have said, a great role model for his community involvement etc.
But IMHO it is inconceivable that there are no players on the Swans list who've dabbled with recreational pharmaceuticals in the past (in fact I know some have), but they're probably clean now - and they certainly don't need another media event like the Dale Lewis episode of a few years ago.
In the end alcohol abuse is a much more serious problem for sports clubs and society in general.

irrespective of their occupation, anybody who is on a six-figure salary with spare time to burn is a huge candidate for drug use. the vast majority of my extended social circle (friends and friends of friends) have used ecstacy and probably 30% went through a stage in their twenties (i'm 31) when they were doing it (or coke/speed/lsd) regularly (say more than once a month). very few of us at that stage had above average income as we were mostly students.

drugs are EXTREMELY popular and there are a lot of swans with the ways and means.

i wonder how many are cranky on tuesdays?
then again, i think it would be worth trying 15-16 players on field so what would i know

True, but you've also got to think about it like this:
story breaks - allegations of drug use in the AFL. It is obligatory for a team to deny a culture of recreational drug-use in both their team and league. Imagine the repercussions if they didn't.

From what I read into his comments, he never said they had never, just that they don't.

Anyhow, it's an ugly topic to have to deal with in the press, so I think whomever is calling the shots at Swannies Central did well with this one. Shaubs is the man, putting our parents' fears to rest...

And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.
