    Umps v Doggies

    James, Pannell, Allen

Allen is the most likely of those 3 to crucify us if the umpiring is poor.

Goldshpincter has tonight's Saints Cows game. Typical isn't it - he has a total shocker last week and gets rewarded with the Friday night game. The AFL and their handling of poor umpiring is a joke!

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

The Sphincter has always had an armchair ride. Otherwise he wouldn't have lasted this long.

Nevertheless, he is not umpring US this week. They'll leave that until an important Melbourne game, like St Kilda

Nice to finally get Matthew James for a change. Talking to Heath James last year, he thought that most players found Matthew James to be the best umpire...(Not related are they? )

We are not alone in the condemnation of Goldspink, look at Big Footy any week.
We won vs Port, but that doesn't mean Goldspink had a good game

To be far Glen I dont think Goldspink could have a good game and u would ever accept it, I think when it comes to umps alot of people have blinkers on and to be fair to the umps most people who comment on there decisions dont know the rules any way.

Sounds like a James Bond movie! I can see him now, wearing black and sitting in an armchair petting his cat while he delivers an exposition of his plans for world domination by bad umpiring of Swans and Hawks games.

Dpw, I think many RWO have watched many games of footy and are more than justified to comment on the standard of umpiring.

The umpiring last Sunday was discraceful, and not just to the Swannies, the Port lads got their fair share of bad decisions as well. The thing is, the commentators made comments on the poor umpiring and on White Line Fever, even Derek Humphrey-Smith agreed that there were several wrong decisions.

If and when Goldspink has a good game, good on him and hopefully he does BUT he does seem to make a lot of wrong decisions against many sides with Sydney being one of them!

Umpiring was shocking on the weekend, however Port was also screwed. Amazing how supporters of every side thinks their team is more harshly treated by the umps, and they are wrong.

Goldspink had a shocking match last Sunday and I can say that as a qualified Field Umpire. I wouldn't get on your high horse about this because RWO has at least 3 regular posters (including myself) who are umpires and certainly know the rules and why decisions are made.

If a umpire has a good game (be it Goldspink or any other ump), they go largely un noticed as it should be
It just when questionable decisions are made that the umpire comes into to spotlight and public scrutiny, it is not hard to tell if a person is taken high when they are right in front of you.

yeah, especially when the guy then decides to leave his arm resting over Hall's shoulder for a prolonged period of time when they are lying on the ground.

Then u would think that u would have a bit more sense of what is going on. Its hard enough getting umps in the first place its a yearly struggle keeping and attracting new umps when every tom, dick and harry decides to blame the results on the umps because they didnt get the result they wanted. Go down on any staurday and watch mr and mrs Smith sledeging the junior umps insteading of watching there kids as you would know most of these umps are just kids, these are the same people that then pack the 2.4 kids in the car and head off to the local AFL game and spend the next couple of hours sledeing the umps. The standard wont rise if u cant attract the right people and lets face it who wants to spend every game being sledged right or wrong for doing your job and until peoples attuides change niether will the people that umpire and niether will the standard.

Why dont u have a crack at umpiring? I think u may have a different appreciation off it if u did.
