    Atmosphere today

Hey gang, am still buzzing with adrenalin after the win today. I was mega fired up all match for some reason. Interestingly so was the rest of the crowd as well. Chants were being started in the O'Reilly MA Noble ANd Brewongle all day, great to see kids. Keep it up and the SCG will return to the cauldron it was in 97.

In the last quarter I trotted up from a very vocal Cheer Squad to the MA Noble to see if I could get its inhabitants all fired up. I have been still a bit undecided as to whether this has been well received or welcome. But today I had the best success I have had in getting them all in unison and behind the team. It was a mega rush starting up the drumming and hearing not only the whole stand join in, but apparently the MA Noble as well!

I tried getting "Cheer Cheer" going but people only heard the drumming so just started clapping along.

What is the verdict on the drumming? Do people enjoy it? Do they find it annoying? Do they want me to keep coming up in the last quarter to get everyone going? Are there any ways of helping develop the atmosphere when I'm still behind the goals?

It seems the O'Reilly WILL chant. But nobody is brave enough to get one started THEMSELVES. How can we look at rectifying this, as this stand is crucial to getting the crowd really behind the team. You could see the team lift in the last quarter when they knew what the crowd had confidence in them.

Interestingly the CS looked pretty good from up there as well. Will look better once we get back a couple of the big flags that have been taken as well. Sure a few empty seats. But the big flags do look great. I could hear Benny getting "Stand up if you love the Swans' going too.

You rarely get the atmosphere coming across on the TV, today it looked like there weren't many people there today, even tho the tv commentators said full house more than once.

Are the bays to the right of the Cheer Squad now general admission?

I think the drum is great to keep everyone around the ground in time, when I've sat up in the stands at the SCG I've noticed people cheering and clapping all out of time with bay next to them, the drum is great for keeping them in time (remembering how great it was when you wandered up into the O'Reilly early in the season)

hmm, the O'Reilly does indeed chant - we have started our own on the occasion of a Barry Hall goal. It's reminiscent of the one tony lockett mantra but with a destinctive 'here we go' feel. Keep listening - you are likely to hear it soon though Baz does need to kick a few more big ones 'afore our dulcit tones make their way across the ground.
Patterns emerge, but do they mean anything? No.

From memory just over 22k so nowhere near fullhouse

The bays to the right, are members GA from memory.

Julian looked great that you could get up there and get them joining in, but prehaps next time look more at the centre of the stand rather than towards one end

I'm up in the upper deck of the MA Noble and I could see you through the binocs with the cheer squad: I saw you with the drum but couldn't hear it from our end but you could hear the chant it set up. Later in the match I heard it but I wasn't sure where from: it seemed to be coming from the O'Reilly stand but I couldn't spot you. I think it's great but tell me how you get to move around the ground- I sometimes feel like visiting people in other parts of the ground but I'm never sure about what sort of access we have out of the Members Reserve. Anybody?

To get into the O'Reilly is easy. You just walk up the stairs. It is as simple as that. Have not been stopped once. I misjudged which entrance to come out of, hence I was more towards the hill any way. Not only is that good because i wanted to get some of the Swans fans there going. But I wanted to show the large Bulldogs travelling army what loud HOME support is like. Next time I will look at getting closer to the middle of the stand.

Maybe we can eventually get a drummer in the O'Reilly permanantly? I'm looking at getting a new one in any case, as my ratty old thing is totally out of tune and is missing a screw on one of its metal joiny things.

Thought the atmosphere was great today, especially in the last quarter when the Bulldogs had just got within one point and the Sydney crowd started to chant before the next bounce. It worked!

Heard the drumming JF, and I think I helps get people going. Also noticed a very loud chant that began in the O'Reilly...sounded awesome from Bay 29.

After a big night out last night, I didnt wake up til 3pm this arvo(!!) so I didnt get to the game and only watched from halfway through the third quarter on TV. So Julian I cant give you the feedback I would normally sitting in the MA Noble.

It felt wierd watching an SCG game on TV. Weird because I am normaly there and never see home games on TV. I feel like I missed something important today. First home game I've missed since 2002.

I can't understand why we only had 22,000 plus at the ground...weather was great...nothing else in opposition was there? Unless the 'tahs game on Sat night gave people their weekend fix...but then how many of those would have gone to an AFL game? I just sometimes worry about why we can't get more to the game. Maybe the TV ratings will be OK.

With all due respect to the Cheer Squad I prefer the "signing" SYYYYYDDDDDDDNNNNNNEEEEEYY chant to the "Sydney - clap, clap, clap".

Every team in the League does the name followed by three claps.

On another thing. On telly after one of our goals they panned to a girl holding a red and white sign with "Bazooka" written on it.

Not all swans members had access to the match
The game is shown live on tv at the same time

There are many reasons why we dont get bigger crowds at our games.

I dont think the Tahs game had much to do with it. Many people enjoy both games and would have gone to both.

was todays game live into sydney?
if so, no wonder the crowd was low

there seemed to be alot of empty seats on the outer wing but the grandstands seemed chockers.

so how does the agreement work with the dogs? do they get all the gate takings or do we pay them an amount?

every sydney game is shown on tv. The sunday arvo games are live, the saturday night ones are delayed by half an hour.
