i think we have a good chance of wining the next 4 and that would make us 9-4. we play an out of form st kilda and carlton then fremantle and collingwood at home. its a good chance for us to set our season up but it wont be easy cause its a really even season.

Every match has been big for us this year but I do sense the St Kilda game is one where we will find out just where we are heading in 05.
St Kilda has been pumped in the media ever since their loss to the Crows and you know that they will come out a completely didfferent side and that ultimately this year they will certainly make the finals.
After 3 straight wins, we should not be low on confidence and this game will probably let us know exactly where we stand in the pecking order.
Cannot wait for the game and I'd imagine there would be lots of Melbourne based supportes attending as well as some Sydney based (like me)!

They are not the results of a team that is finals quality.
Having said that, the fact that it is in Melbourne means that they will be favourites - if it was here I think we would win relatively comfortably.
I'm not overly confident but I also don't think our season is on the line - but if we lose it will be for every other game.Comment

I'm starting to think that St Kilda are the most over-rated side in the AFL. As Denis was saying on Friday, since their 10 in a row last year they have only won 11 from 24.
In 2004, after their 10 in a row they won only 1 of 5, then won 5 of 7 and then won 1 of 3 in finals.
This year they have won 4 of 9.
Note their missing players though:
Jason Blake (missed 5 games)
Xavier Clarke (5)
Gehrig (1)
Hamill (3)
Harvey (3)
Jones (0.5)
Koschitzke (4)
Maguire (1)
Penny (6)
Powell (8)
Riewoldt (5)
Thompson (1)
Still, with the players Thomas has to work with, they are definitely underperforming.
As a comparison, our missing players are:
Ball (5)
Davis (3)
Doyle (8)
Jolly (2)
Mathews (1)
Maxfield (4)
O'Loughlin (3)
Saddington (6)
Schauble (5)
Williams (5)
We seem to be doing better given our injury list.Last edited by NMWBloods; 25 May 2005, 11:44 AM.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

I think other teams might have worked out the Saints, i.e., shutting down their prime movers (Ball, Hayes, Dal Santo). Without these guys, their midfield is very ordinary. That is the how I saw the Adelaide beat them last Friday. Mind you, that is exactly how I saw us loosing to the Crows too. Our midfield and their midfield are in a very similiar boat. Second string midfielders are both very average. It would be interesting to see how they match up. This is where the game will be won or lost to me.
Would love to see LRT to match up against Riewoldt as well. I dont think Riewoldt is 100 percent fit (with his shoulder) and I dont think he particularly likes physical challenge which is something LRT does not seem to be afraid of.Comment
