I am quite happy to be a Swans supporter, but boy if you want to get a comment out of the shyest person in Melbourne this week just mention that you barrack for the Swans.

"Garbage team", "crap footy", "bloody awful", "poor bugger", "who would want to support them right now", "surely they are better than that", "has Roosey lost the plot or what".

Comments I have received in my travels this week.

One of those comments came from a Lions supporter, who did qualify what he said by saying he is off to the races for the rest of the season. Can't wait for the Spring carnival.

That's awesome! I had not heard about that little tradition before. Perhaps I shall have to get me one and do the same? Though uni on Monday mornings usually just involves a roll out of bed and trudge to the car... would I remember the tie? Probably not... Would a tie go down well at uni? I do Arts, so unless it was wraped decoratively around my hair or waist, I would assume not... Looks like I'll have to save it up for when I hit the 'real world'...

Worked in Melb for 16 years in several different locations, can't say I have ever seen anyone wearing a Club tie on Monday.

          Bugger

That said, I would like to think I am a bit of a trend setter, so perhaps I'll make it 'my' thing? The only thing is that if it were reversed and someone else came to work wearing the tie of a team we just lost to, then I probably wouldn't like it so much. It took me a good three days to perk up after last week!
But after tonight, I am as happy as Bec (I mean, who's Larry when he's at home?)

I wouldn't know about Mondays anymore than other days, but Club ties are rather common in Melbourne. I have one (the only tie I have... and I've only worn it twice! I hate ties... )... it's like any merchandise, I guess. I'm sure that if you went looking, you'd start to see them.

I only wear a tie when they force me. Piece of crap around my neck.

I've seen club ties at work, but a real rarity.
