He's the classic "old head on young shoulders" kind of player. Very impressed with him today. Great potential being unearthed. I hear he was tearing the twos up for some time. A bit Bevvo - hopefully Malceski won't hit the same speed bump!
Thoughts on Malceski?

The instant impact made by Dempster, Moore, Vogels and now Malceski reminds us of the same impact made by Schneider and Bevan. That isn't, in itself, a bad thing.
It does, however, pose it's own question. Why is it that these players are able to enter league football as if they're veterans, but further development is slow and painful? It appears that the Canberra league does a good job of getting players to the point where they are physically and mentally ready for senior footy. Yet, at the same time, it offers nothing for players who have played 20-50 games.
This suggests that at least part of the problem lies not in Canberra, but in the senior 22. At the Bulldogs, the younger generation took several years to reach their potential, but Murphy, Gilbee and co have been forced to take the initiative from the senior veterans who had previously carried them. They've mostly developed in leaps and bounds under Rodney Eade.
It seems a similar thing needs to happen at the Swans. McVeigh and Buchanan simply must be thrown in at the deep end now, and allowed to either sink or swim. Schneider and Bevan, once they get back into the team, must be given time in familiar positions to regain their form, and then they, too, must be given responsibility and the chance to take it. It will require a leap of faith, but it is becoming abundantly clear that it is a leap that must be made.We hate Anthony Rocca
We hate Shannon Grant too
We hate scumbag Gaspar

Malceski will make it - for a young fella I was amazed at how he knew where to run...and then when to try to call for the pill.
I must admit I had only seen him once before on TV (the lot of Melb supporters now) but was very impressed.
A tiny bit like Tony Morwood I think...Comment

I can't stand people who say we have no depth, yet at the same time don't admit to the fact the kids we do have are just unknown in what they can deliver and aren't given the chance to show what they have because if they do make the seniors they ride the pine all match and that proves nothing.
At least today it appeared that Malceski played most of the match and did so in a position where at least he could find the ball. So I was very happy with Malceski today and if he keeps the form up, we might have a solid midfielder on our hands and thats what this side is crying out for more than anything else at the moment.Once was, now elsewhereComment

The first year great start / second year blues is not a phenomenon restricted to the Swans. Many young players follow a similar path.
Part of it is about expectations - theirs and ours. In a player's first year, little is usually expected of him, opponents won't pay much attention and won't have had time to study him, and he will just be out having some fun.
In subsequent years the expectations grow and things aren't so easy.
I'm not overly concerned with the drop off of Bevan and Schneider - especially Bevan. I still think he'll turn into a decent footballer in due course.Comment

Good start and seems to have a good height and body weight and a good footy head as said before. Well done Nick Malceski and also well done to Nick Davis some good playing and once again was up in defence and great passing from midfield.Love those SwansComment

Malceski didn't do a lot today - he wasn't on for all that long - but what he did he did well. I'm pleased to see him any time from now.
And McVeigh did some nice things today too - I hope he gets more regular time, I think he'll repay the hopes people have for him.He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)Comment

Melskei is the next macedian buckley, but unspellable name.He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.Comment

Could someone please help with pronoucing Nick Malceski's name. On channel ten they say Mal cheski as if there is a "h" in the name.
Watch the reserves when possible and Nick seems to be developmenting into a promising playerComment

Looks a lot like Nick Davis in how he moves, and adds much needed pace. Noticed how he worked up the ground a bit, then lost his opponent or made his opponent very accountable by running hard back into the forward line.
Has a brain and was prepared to put his body on the line. He did a few things such as getting a fingertip to a contest when he looked out of it. They call them 1%'s, which unfortunately for Schneider, he fails to grasp the concept.
The difference between Malcheski and Bevan and Schneider is it initially looks, simply put, a better footballer. Time will tell.Comment
