What is it with Mike Sheahan?

On League Teams this evening on Fox Footy (and if Walls had been sitting next to him he wouldn't have been able to agree quickly enough) Mike states that Goodes has to take Pavlich this weekend.

Not because there aren't any other options - they highlighted Leo, B2 and the Hyphen as other possibilities.

No, the reason that Goodes has to play on Pavlich is that he is not accountable enough and needs to learn.

Now excuse me Mr Sheahan, but aren't you one of the leading voices in the outcry against the Swans for concentrating too much on negating the opposition rather than trying to make the play themselves? Yet you would take arguably the Swans' most naturally offensive midfielder (certainly in the absence of Willo) and make him tag the opposition playmaker to teach him a lesson.

Pavlich is in great form and needs to be minded, sure, but the only way I want to see Goodes matched up against him is if all other options have failed, or if it is in the same role that Willo played against Judd in the QF last year.

Why doesn't Sheahan wonder who Freo have to run with Goodes other than Pavlich?

Like most Journos, their mouths (or pens) are bigger than their brains, and the more they talk crap, the more they think ppl will believe that they know all there is abt footy!!! And as I've stated b4 most supporters are not that smart and beleive everything they read/hear. Except your good self of course.

You should apply to be on that type of show,Liz , but they wouldn't let you on coz, you'd show them up, for the imposters they really are.

Mike usually works in a kind of reverse motion most of the time.
      I'll explain this particular instance.

After 4 rounds old Mike publicly stuck his little chin out and said that Pav was under-achieving and Freo were worse off for it etc. After taking the bat to Pav, he turned it around big time and proved the article a farce. Afterwards, Sheahan was derided by his collegues and now he has to be on the "Pav's In Great Form Bandwagon".

Soon enough he will hang his chin out there again, it will get knocked off and then he will jump on the next bandwagon. I call it the Sheahan Wheel of Rubbish!

Would not be surprised if Bolton took Pav if not Barry.

          Great points Liz!

There are three players in our team who we should let the opposition's coach worry about.

          Goodes, Hall and J. Bolton

We should never use them as negative negating players on the opposition.

Quite honestly, I don't think any of the above are capable of negating an opponent. Funnily enough, our best negater (Kirk) is also player who has typically been tagged more than nearly anyone in our side.

Are you sure that Mike didn't mean Pavlich was not being accountable and therefore should have a Goodes on him to give him something to think about?

Is that Channel 7's new gameshow?

Goodes is best employed as a dangerous playmaker. Last week I saw him used in the centre bounce as a rover of unusual size. He's wasted in defence; he's best posted in an attacking role, and the more attacking the better. Defence is not his strong point, sure, but it is far better to play to his strengths than his weaknesses.

Willo is of a similar mould - and it's so good to have Willo back. The Willo-Goodes show should be good viewing this weekend. (Goodes marks the kickout, kicks to Willo, who kicks to Bazza inside 50 ... I can dream.)

A shall refphrase that, although the term I used is an old fashioned term with no modern day connotation.

He is very good at crawling to the AFL clique or anyone to whom it suits his purpose.

Funny thing is, he does it so badly. Everyone whose anyone in the AFL clique hate him. Especially the current coaches.

Someone loves him. He has been getting leaks from the AFL for years and now he bobs as a selector on the Indigenous Team.
