Something is up with the alignment of the moon and stars at the moment - I've been finding myself agreeing with you far too much recently. And I agree with both those points.

I don't think anyone's performance while captain has been out of the norm with what we have come to expect from them and we have no evidence to suggest that captaincy had any impact on their performances.

LOL - just one of those freaky things!
Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Surely this is the whole problem with this captaincy debate . . . what do we really expect from the captain? We all seem to have strident opinions about who should or shouldn't be in the rotation, but nobody has come up with a coherent rubric for assessing performance.

As far as I can see, the only attributes that an AFL captain must have are being a 'monty' at the selection table and being good at winning the toss. Everything else is just media hype.

Is it just me, or do the Swans seem to loose the toss more times than not. Anyone got any stats?

Thats it, its all completely meaningless except for the "media duties" of the captain. Thats why I think Kirk, Goodes and Jude in that order for captain.

Not sure about that. Some ex-players in the media have discussed it a bit recently and they talked about intangible leadership qualities (well, not quite with those words...).

What would a 'tangible' leadership quality be? A strong right hook?

Looks like it has to be Bazza based on both those selection criteria

                        Wouldn't change my original question

I still think that all leadership qualities are intangible, except the one that relates to the strength of your right arm.

That's why discussion of leadership qualities is so nebulous . . . . and often hilarious.

Discussion by supporters and media is usually meaningless as outsiders don't really know much about these intangibles.

Then again, all discussion is meaningless anyway as outsiders cannot influence anything anyway.

                          It's just chat.

And yet I still had an exam question on it on Friday......
And the man who started it, the Schneiderman, can kick his third for the quarter. And the swans are in the Grand Final!

Some sort of political science course LS? So who are the great leaders, and how did they achieve this status?
