That was one of the greatest ever travesties in the history of sport.

The Norm Smith Medal should be awarded to the best player. On that day, Michael Voss single-handedly won the game for the Lions in the last quarter. But it was too late, because the judges had made their decision before this happened. Buckley may have been good earlier in the game, but when the game was there to be won, it was Michael Voss who showed his true class and shown above all else. I wrote an abusive email to the AFL the next day I was fuming so much about the preferential treatment that the magpies get.

I'm suprised to find a fondness for the blood-smearing, draft tampering mercinary here of all places.

You'd probably be surprised at most things.

Um, actually you were warned, but anyway...

A Brownlow Medallist and Norm Smith medallist is quite a handy asset to the team. Do you have anything solid to substantiate your claim besides the very circumstantial innuendo you have raised? I've heard some rumours too, but there has not been much substance behind them.

It's nothing to do with fondness - it's simply being able to recognise good players from others teams besides the red and white.

Williams had to leave because of a dispute with him. Many people in the footy industry knew about it at the time. It's in the public domain anyway as Eddie virtually confirmed it on the Footy Show one night. And it wouldn't be the first time it's happened anyway. There is a major stoush in the Swans ranks as we all know back in the early 80's. It's just one of those things. Bucks is an intense sort of bloke who probably gets some offside but if most players emulated his preparation and attitude they'd be better off.
