    Nick Malceski

I witnessed Malceski put in one of the best performances in the reserves this afternoon that I have ever seen. No idea of how many possessions he got but wouldn't be surprised if he touched it 40+ times. He scored 4 goals too, albeit two in junk time at the end of the game.

He was good in the clear and it was amazing how many times he found himself in space and just where the ball needed to go. But he was also good in traffic and good off the ground. Super game.

Schmidt was also impressive and they need to find a way to squeeze him into the team for a couple of games too, sometime this year, just to give the boy a taste and reward his consistently good reserves form this year.

Otherwise the team handed out their routine smashing of their opponent - very worthy given their opponent today was a decent team (Queanbeyan). Saddo and Schaubs were solid, Schneider did some nice stuff in front of goal and Sunny kicked a couple of beauties too.

Surely with Neitz up against us next week, Schaubs should come into the side in place of LRT and maybe look at Malceski, Moore and Schmidt sharing the same spot in the side over the next 7 weeks to blood them.

We've got to get Schuabs back in the side before finals. And Neitz is the obvious opponent.

I felt today when Leo Barry was getting beaten during 1st and 3rd quarters, we really had no other option.

Much as I like Moore, with Buchanan doing more effective burrowing, he's style is not in demand as much as a silky smooth Maleski.

LRT wasnt good. Great spoiling 1 on 1 in 2nd half, but bad clangers in 1st quarter. Scuabs replacing LRT doesnt give us anything at all. Schuabs replacing dempster might be the go.

Totally agree Liz. I saw most of the 2nd half of the ressies (while munching down Eirin's famous and mega delicious Swanny biscuits, Thanks!!) and Malceski was truely on another level. Don't mean to go over the top, but some of his weaving in and out into space was Judd like. Not to mention his kicking was superb. He kicks it like a dart and finds the target 9 times out of 10.

Simply A gun. And a bargin at pick 60 odd in the draft.

Why rob Peter to keep paying Paul, when you would be better off dropping like for like.

End of the day Dempster is the better defender to have in the side over LRT, because he has more of a footy brain, is cool under pressure, can go man on man and is a clean long kick of the footy and in short looks like he know what he is doing.

LRT should make way if Schaubs is brought back into the side, not Dempster who provides better service than LRT.

I'm not anti-LRT by any means and I fully understand why the club has been persisting with him in the senior team this year.

But Dempster had a much much better game tonight than LRT

Simply because I beleive our defense is under-sized. Leo Barry is not a fullback big enough to take on the gorillas.
We need to add height in there, So effectively let Schauble take the FF, and put Leo Barry on Dempsters man.

and then move Dempster to take Kennelly's man and allow Kennelly to play on the wing and we drop LRT altogether.

I think The Hyphen is a better defender than Dempster (by a lot, actually) but of course I would much rather see the ball in Dempsters hands than The Hyphen's at any time. Surely there is room for both and Schauble in the team?

And, yeah, get Malceski in there as he is just the type of player we need to groom into the midfield. Moore did not offer much unfortunetely. I have a feeling he doesn't have the speed for AFL footy (it may just be fitness at this point in his career though).

Although I have plenty of thoughts on LRT's game tonight, I shall save them for another thread. Lets keep the comments on Malceski's excellent game.

Malceski has to come into the team next week on this kind of performance, otherwise there really is no incentive to play well in the reserves. As I mentioned in the other thread, I love how his kicks are low and flat which allows leading forwards to run onto the ball. This would suit guys like Hall, MOL and ROK.

Praise him for when the ball travelled from his foot to another Swannie's hands.

We don't want to change last night's team as they played so well as a team.
Didn't Monty stick it up the Cats who passed him up when he was a local Geelong junior.
LRT and Dempster need to practice precision kicking.
What's the go on Willo's hamstring.

He does looks like a set of bellows at times. What I like though is a kid of 18 who rips the ball out of opposition players hands! I think he I have seen him do this 3 times now. He reads the play pretty well to.

If he can develop some endurance he'll go far.
He had observed that people who did lie were, on the whole, more resourceful and ambitious and successful than people who did not lie.

And now LRT is even hijacking threads on other players, when he has one of his own...

Malceski could well come in for McVeigh, who hasn't really made the most of his chances and seems hesitant in the seniors, sort of like how Ablett used to look in his first few games. Definitely could do with Malceski's penetrating kick (already seen a great example of this with a long pass to O'Keefe against Collingwood).
