Go back to your sheep husbandry text book Country Member.
He certainly isn't at the moment, given the fact that he's injured and hasn't played for a while. I was thinking of the sentiment and you do have a point that sentiment doesn't have a place in the GF. I also think Goodes was referring to having a fully fit all-engines firing Maxfield and that is what I'd like to see. I have a soft spot for Stuart Maxfield as I credit him for getting us back in the game against the Bombers in the '96 PF.
I don't believe that one young player who isn't from the tradition of Aussie Rules is in our best 22 yet he is continually chosen in the first team and would probably be picked for the GF (should the team get that far). If sentiment comes into it I'd rather see Stewie out there than said young player.

Love Stuey to bits. He's a terrific bloke, was a good leader and worked his butt off for the club.

That is the history of SM.

The future is bleak and possibly not there at all.

I can't see him coming back from his injury, finding form in the ressies and being selected before the end of this season.

His distractions are most likely dominating his thoughts and it would be unrealistic to not expect him to be contemplating next year sans footy!

Stuey is a lifelong Swan. He goes into my Swan Hall of Fame.

Apart from the almost 100 games he played for the Tigers

        I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

I suspected he would . . . "Perhaps, just perhaps, the job could cause him to grow ~ much as I think it did Paul Kelly.". I am disappointed that we'll be restarting the rotation from scratch, I think we've seen enough of Matthews for example.
