He's kicked, what, 7.14 now? I'm sure he knows it without having to learn it from some internal discussion! . He's done so many good things of late that I'm even willing to forgive him for all the misses, as long as he keeps up the effort!

If you think about it, even though his conversion is poor, he has still had a significant amount of shots on goal since he has become our inside midfielder.

If he can improve the goalkicking (which i know he will) we will finally have a consistent goal kicking midfielder which we most definately need.

Some of his desperate efforts left me breathless. I think in some ways he is setting the benchmark for desperation in this team atm (which is saying something in a team that inlcudes Kirk & Bolton) & certainly he's showing the other youngsters that this is the standard they need to set themselves.

His inability to kick through the ball rather than lofting and his constant need to get his best distance may also account for his goalkicking inaccuracy

He is now starting to believe he is an integral part of the team. It's amazing what self-confidence can do for you.

Has surpassed my best expectations already, but can still improve his poor disposal, etc.

Monty also has the Cressa like ability to upset opposition players and fans. Got a thread on big footy last week. One of those four clangers resulted in a goal to us, when he upset Reed enough to earn a clip behind the ear and the free got reversed. The Demons midfield was out of position, Monty got the ball on quickly and Kirk ran into an open goal. Clanger of the year!

Excepting that shocker of a set shot, Monty?s conversion and delivery into FF has been pretty good recently. When confident he IS a decent kick.

His desperation is not confined to getting the ball in packs - anyone else notice that a couple of times on Sat he caused turnovers at important times because he chases so hard.

My concern is that he appears to be getting the last drop out of that Baggins size body of his and could be very prone to injury.

So far he?s a shoo in for this year's most improved player in our club.

I have a suspicion he won Most Improved last year? Can you win it 2 yrs in a row?

That turnover from Read was pure gold - Read had carried on a like a pork chop all nite, & I reckon the umpire was simply saying (a la Mark Johnson a few weeks back) "enough"!!

I still think, on current form, Buchanan is better than Jude Bolton. Jude just is not the playmaker that Buchanan is and what we need coming out of the centre. If we give Buchanan as much time as we gave Jude to get his disposals right, he will be a great player.

I can't agree that he can't get better. His effort has been great but his decision making (at times) can only get better & with time i think it will.

Well from memory he has kicked something like 5 goals 14 behinds (with about 5 OOBOTF as well), so I am sure the boys do give him a great deal of ****.

I have heard that Monty is a really nice bloke. We had a Cheer Squad meeting in the Sellars Centre upstairs and Monte was actually going to stay to take part, until told it was a private thing.

Bucky is just about the nicest down to Earth bloke in the whole team i think. That's why i'm so happy that his footy is really starting to come together.
