    West Coast MATCH thread

Seeing as no one seems to have started this yet, I thought I would.

Good first quarter - seem to have come out swtiched on.

Disappointing disposal, shots at goal and untidy tackling prevented a bigger lead. Some of the key things to work on if we are to be a genuine contender.

    Good start though.

Cox has 4 goals to half time..if we stop him then we're a big chance..cant see them getting enough goals from lynch and matera.

What to do about Cox? would of been nice to have Schauble in the side, both Lynch and Cox taking strong marks

I think the Eagles would be over the moon with that fast half we chucked everything at them and there still in front

We could play alot better...had more inside 50's we've just missed a few opportunites while we've been in there.

Interesting first half. Demonstrated to some degree what I've thought - our skill level is still behind the leading teams. We are close because of our endeavour, however the guys have slowed and looking tired. In the second half, unless we get a second wind, superior skills will beat tiring endeavour.

Our skill level continues to be disappointing.

As I noted at quarter time, poor disposal missing targets and untidy tackling have really hurt us. We didn't take a single mark I50 that quarter as our kicks to the forwards are poor and Hall can't mark well overhead.

Around the ground we often seem to struggle to read the bounce and flight of the ball. Frequently we see a number of guys run at the player with the ball only to see it handballed or kicked passed them to a WC player who is now free because his man ran to the ball.

Other basic skills are often down too - eg: Kennelly losing control when bouncing the ball and kicking it OOBOTF.

We also seem to lack enough one grab players. We fumble too much, thus losing time to give off the ball effectively and find open targets.

Our kicking at goal has been disappointing - we've missed a few we shouldn't have.

We also seem slow in spots. J Bolton has been run down behind at least twice and a couple of other players have been caught too.

So, we have an awful lot to do in the second half. We started well, but they have matched our endeavour now, and their skills are far superior. We need to work even harder in the second half, but that will be a big ask. However, if we can, then who knows what will happen, but we need to make the most of our opportunities as they are such a good side.

Why can't Cousins be done for holding the ball? Bolts gets done 30 seconds after Cousins gets away with 2! Mystifying.....

Hall needs to stop dropping marks - missed a couple of critical ones in that qtr.

We are not playing well but that's probably a good sign - we are still with 'em.

Umps are hard to follow - one WC player got tacked, dragged the ball back and it was still play on!?!??

                    Cox, the Umpires and Conversion

Cox is a huge issue. Other than Goodes I don't see who could run with him but that's a huge sacrifice that I don't think we can afford to make.

WC don't need the help of the umpires. Just as a highlight an ITB that should have been paid to Dempster, highlighted by the stitches in the back of his head, gets paid against him for holding the ball!

That was unforgiveable by Davis and MickeyO!

                      Reasonable first half!
We need the crowd to make heaps of noise i feel they are not making enough!

Matthews has to be moved off fletcher!

                      Matera not doing anything!
I agree if cox can be stopped we have a good chance providing they keep Matera quiet down forward.

Perfect example of the problem with our lack of shepherding - Kennelly running down the ground, challenged by Wirripunda, so he handballs to Ablett and then tails off instead of shepherding so Wirripunda now has a clear run to tackle Ablett!

The one good thing about listening on the radio is you get to hear the crowd when they normally go to breaks.
