Great team effort. Not one passenger. Bit worried early with our point blank misses and kicking decision making when we went short and allowed WC to clog us up. Eg. second Q.

Hope Willo has a good look at his 2 incredibally silly disposals in the midfield when clear running through the centre. Maybe those at the game can enlighten us on whether there were options up field.

Good to see Schneider get on target in the second half and for once have effective use of the footy. Having not been a fan of his I will reserve my opinion on whether he is back in town for a few games. But credit where credit is due.

True, he has to keep that kind of form up in the coming weeks and hopefully he does. No doubt we'll get some coming on praising him like no tomorrow, but its just one very good second half performence and if he wants to keep his place in the team going into the finals he HAS to deliever like he did today in our forward line. Good signs I'll give him that, but he still has much to prove.

        Oh what a fantastic game!!!

Tough tough effort, pleasure to watch it (even a pleasure to watch LRT hehe)

Hall's and Scheinder's goals were my highlights in a game full of them IMO!

Hopefully Adam will gain a heap of confidence from today.

Great win but the game's a bit of a blur for me. Should have been wrapped up snugly in bed with flu but ventured to the ground anyway. (Haven't missed a home game since 1997 and wasn't going to break the streak today, of all days).

Overall impression is that it wasn't that great a performance from the boys - lots of skills errors, especially in the midfield - and there didn't seem to be any stand-out performers but everyone did their bit. That said, the way the defence cleared the ball time after time, especially in the second half, was outstanding, and the tenacity at the contest all around the ground made up for the skills errors.

Got to consider ourselves a really decent chance for a top 4 finish now. Next week will be tough but all the rest are winnable if they bring the same attitude to play.

Was indeed such an entertaining match.

Loved Jollys Back style juggling of the ball

Wow, that's a surprisingly negative view of the performance, IMO.

I thought the fact that it was such an even performance from the whole team shows that it was actually a really good performance (if that makes sense!). Especially considering we won well without big contributions from arguably our two biggest game winners in Goodes and Hall.

Give him a weeks rest, and let Schuable have a crack. We need him 100% come finals.

Didn't mean to sound negative. I'm as thrilled as the rest of you with the win. I guess what I was trying to say was that I thought we'd have to play a better game - with a few more individually dominant performances - to pull this one off. The fact that Goodes had a so-so game and Hall was also down on normal form is a good thing.

We beat the league leaders playing far from a perfect game - I'm happy!

That's what matters. We did miss some sitters - I howled when Magic set up a gimme and kicked a behind. I think he might have howled too! But look at the WC sharpshooters who also missed sitters: Judd (I never expect to see that again), Matera's poster(s?) and the young bloke whose name I can't remember. There was enormous pressure from both sides (don't forget we were up against the best defence in the league this season so far), and I suspect that tension got to both sides in kicking for set shots at goal.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

                      Cruiser is spot on

I have just returned from the game and it was a high quality skillful game from both teams. West Coast skills generally were not better than the swans - Cousins was the exeception, he stood out above all.

Adam Goodes played a great game, so did Barry Hall. Jude Bolton had eleven tackes - so he was always bound to give away a few free kicks - that's what happens to every player who has a go.

As for Goodes he lined up on Judd during stages and contributed strongly to the win.

Malceski will be under pressure next week as will McVeigh.

On the whole the swans played competive, highly skilled football, mostly great use of handball combined with a smart game plan which saw them moving the ball quickly through the middle to a forward line that is a cut above league leaders West Coast and Adelaide. This can be a better team than 2003, our only concern is having to play Leo Barry to far above his height, we need Schauble playing well!

I thought he was woeful. Stenglien was their best player, imo.

Super win! And great game to watch. Funny to hear commentators on both TV & radio raving about it as "old style" accountable footy.

And the good news is we can get better. All of a sudden I'm really looking forward to next week - it will be a tougher game again but this team seems to be relishing the challenges at this stage.

WCE didn't lose anything in my eyes - their defence was excellent particularly in the first half & they're still very likely to be there last Sat in Sept.

Yeah a ripper of a game. It was a hard tough contest - full of pressure, which i think resulted in some mistakes from both teams. The Swans can take comfort in that they won the game and defeated the Eagles rather than it being lost by a poor performance by either side or umpires. The sheer physical pressure in the 3rd quarter and the electric start to the last quarter knocked the Eagles mentally and physically off their game. Kirk was fantastic, but I thought it was the second tier midfielders that really stood up well. They kept the pressure all on the WC midfield from the opening bounce. Goodes had a pathetic first half but seemed to exert his impact in the second.

I don't know what it seemed like on TV - but through the second quarter it seemed that umpire Scott McLaren was umpiring purely for West Coast. Some attrocious decisions.

Anyway great win - good crowd of 37 000+, and the Swans, as of this round are contenders for the premiership.
