    Round 17 Positives

Ha, pretty easy one this week.

    Where do we start?

Adam Schneider showing glimpses of his 2003 form with 2 spectacular goals at crucial times that turned the momentum our way each time. After one of his, you could tell the whole team was so pumped and at the following ball up the tackling was ferocious!

The other positive that was great is that it was the best 4 quarter effort from the swans in a long time. We dominated all but the 2nd quarter, and even then it wasnt that we were playing particularly badly, but that the Weagles were just better.

Buchanan and Ablett may be our midfield saviours.
I think Ablett's form has been on a massive upward trend all year.
IMO, a year ago he was a maybe for delisting - now he starts in the square.

Dont mean to be too negative ( ), but I was really surprised that Ablett started on the bench today!

Must have been some sort of bluff tactic from Roosy

Probably a good thing he was - by midway thorugh the last quarter he was spent. Late in the game there was a loose ball on the O'Reilly wing and you could see him look up hoping there was another Swan who could go for the ball, but there wasn't, so he just put in another huge effort.

Today is the first instance that I could see Buchanan and Schneider could co-exist in the team. I was not convinced of this idea until this game.

Thump up for Roos and the coaching staffs too. The way to preserve with Schneider, Buchanan, Albett and LRT are clearly paying off. With this. I hope they know what they are doing with McVeigh .

                - The tackling and pressure, which led to a couple of goals.
                - Kennelly running and running from halfback (GO TADHG GO!!!)
                - LRT's work in defence (mentioned in the weekly LRT thread).
                - Schneider's first goal, sensational effort and really lifted the team and crowd.
                - Crouch wearing the Grommet like a glove. Another sensational defensive game from Crouchy.

Buchanan continuing his run of good form - winning balls in the packs, harassing opposition backmen, delivering into the forward 50, one percenters (eg his shepherd for Schneider when he kicked his 2nd), and he's finding the goals a little more regularly

Schneider playing his best game in 2 years - his first goal was reminiscent of 2003 - but also used the ball well around the ground

Jolly really stood up in the last quarter with a few important marks, plus his goal from a tight angle

MOL continuing to build fitness - you can see the difference it makes with his 2nd efforts after marking contests where he so often crumbs his own ball and gives it off to a running player

Kennelly played his best game this year IMHO. Wasn't afraid to put his body on the line early and through the game seemed to read the play well and drift across where necessary to help a teammate out.

Crouch blanketing Matera so he had no impact at all on the game.

Buchanan deserves a special mention for appearing 4 times in the top 10 1%ers over the last 2 weeks, as shown on the big screen before the game.

Since the positives I was going to state have already been mentioned above I'll just add this little one.

                      Dempster for changing his Guernsey

Since Monty found his niche, his confidence is up and hes becoming a great player.

He can still improve with his goal kicking, But hes a pretty good package.

Hes been a great positive for the Swans...even though he may not have 'Big' performances all the time, he still rates up high in Best On ground..pureply cause of his determination and drive.

More like Dempster for copping some stitches in his scone!

A few more hits around the head and he'll be looking the part.

Good performance by Schneider, his best game in a couple of years IMHO.

Also LRT continues to improves, and a very pleasing performance by him today

Monty, great work on the 1%'ers and a well deserved goal

I agree. The win was even more impressive given that our forwards did not really dominate, probably with the exception of Magic, who except for his 3 goals did some very ordinary things on the field.
