    Must win!

If we don't win, kiss a top two finish good-bye (Adelaide will be two games clear), hope for a top four finish (we may fall to fifth this weekend) and more realistically, expect a 5-8 finish. If we win, we maintain our position on the ladder, we will have beaten the two teams ahead of us (Adelaide at home!) and we can maintain our positive outlook on life, ulcer free.

    So the plan is: win.

They might have a more devious plan; I wouldn't want to upset the applecart.

Oh, yes. Their devious plan would be to make Adelaide lose.

If that is the case, then I second that devious plan.
There's a part of me that would like to see a ruthless streak emerge in Roosy... RAOW!

It's a classic 8 pointer. Cow is right. If we lose, we have almost no chance of finishing 2nd. Win and we're only % behind the Crows. Such an exciting season now.

The coolest invention of all time, the toyota Ladder Predictor, suggests if we win we're a very good chance of #2 nws % differences. It also suggests if we lose we're still a goodish chance of top 4.

I believe anything that involves technology so that's good enuff for me.

Nevertheless, the "cow win" experiment is definitely worth flying up the flagpole.

It is an 8 pointer and Sheedy has set Essendon to win as many of their remaining games as possible and they'll be tough next up.

You would be very concerned if every coach did not have the same plan !

Essendon or Sheedy are no different

A lot of people of underrating us, still, for this match. The bigger ground, the soreness from last week, the travel...

We'll get there if we can come out strong, and be leading at half time. The Crows defence will go into lockdown mode (least points conceded per game all year - very impressive) but if we can break them open and not rely on a late comeback, they'll fold. It's business time, and we win these games. 2005 is our year.

I have a good feeling about this game. Either that or I've just had a few beers....anyway....

I am still of the belief that Adelaide are playing above themselves. They are a bit like us earlier in the year: winning ugly. Plus they have a few stars (McLeod and Roo) which if shut down, leaves them badly exposed.

My only concern is backing up against the toast.

After the Red Sox broke their 86-year drought last October I believe anything is possible. For the Red Sox to triumph, pigs must have taken flight, Hell must have had a thick blanket of snow, and cats and dogs must have lived together peacefully. I can prove that all of these have happened*. Some of the same conditions must apply to the Swans, so the end of the Big Drought must be near.

*A diving pig set a new record in New Guinea, Hell is in Norway and it snows there every winter, and many people own cats and dogs that get along just fine.

Had a few beers myself at a work lunch, which perhaps also accounts for my confidence. Still, come sobriety and harsh sunlight and I still think were a good chance, for Saturday AND the rest of the season. In 2003, it was a matter of trying to catch Brisbane on an off day (Collingwood did on GF day, and still couldn't get there). This year, things are far more even, despite the relative dominance of WC. I can't see why its not possible - still think a Saints side with their team at full strength is the biggest threat.
