The game was tailor made for him this week, he has great balance and keeps his feet when in the contest which was very handy in the slippery conditions.

With his confidence up he has improved his decision making skills and on a couple of occasions last night actually demanded the ball from players when was clear (something that he was not confident enought to do early in the year).

More time in the gym in the next couple of years and plenty of more time playing on the best forward players in the comp can only help his improvement.

His kick to Vogels in the centre in the last quarter was probably the most composed and skillful delivery from defence into attack I have seen him do.

Unless he reads RWO. But I guess if he did, he would have been shark bait at the bottom of the Gap a few months ago.

I guess there is a lesson there to not write-off young players too quickly.

          Thanks for that...

Also, I don't remember writing him off - you never produced the post where I did!

Additionally, he's not there yet - just progressing (and much more so in the past month than in the previous year).

No, but if you respond to someone's post then it usually is unless clear otherwise.

Haha how funny not to post here for a while and see the LRT thread changing...Barry I think we started saying and posting how well LRT was developing around Rnd 3-4.

Great to see him gaining in confidence each week and he is now prepared to back himself and take a few chances.

I would like to see Vogels thrown in at Full Back he did some ok defensive work on Sat Night.

                Cheers

Vogels reminded me of Whitnall on Saturday night. I reckon we could use him at CHF, thus allowing Hall to play closer to goals, or vice versa.

Which is interesting because he has had some dreadful performances since then.

Yes, but often less dreadful than the week before. His dreadfullessness has been developing.

As soon as I read that I thought "Yeah, I didn't think he was very good either"

I'm not sure if he could handle CHF at the moment but as a tall option in the goal square he may be good. I was disappointed with his disposal on Saturday but that was probably nerves.

Not really but it shows that people were backing LRT certainly have better judgement of the game than those who did not.

Now that is a statement .

And this week he has Lucas. Gosh what vigourous "discussions" we had after they last played against each other. I'm sure everyone here (LRT faithfulls, converts two-siders or haters) will be looking forward to this rematch!

Yeah, from what little we have seen of Vogels, his marking seems to be his strength. So I agree up near FF seems the best place from him ATM.

I am getting more liking for Vogels. He seems to know how to offer a target around the ground.

His footy smarts are unquestionable. One instance near the wing, he was out of position but was able to impact a physical presence on the opposition which resulted in a spillage.

I dont think it would be good to move him closer to the goal square yet. It is probably best for him if we leave him around the half forward line as a link man from defence to attack. Get some smaller player at his feets would be the idea. Vogels's task would be to bring the ball to ground to the smaller player advantage.

Schneider would be the one for that smaller player role I think. A bit of creative from him would make sure that Vogels is a legitimate tall target for the opposition to worry about.
