    Essendon game

Regardless of the result last night, I have a bad feeling about the game next Sat night. Having played 2 extremely physical games 2 weeks in a row, we come up against one of our bogey sides (as far as winning away goes) who, when they get it together, can be pretty dangerous. However, at least we are playing a team that is renowned for lacking leg speed - so hopefully our legs (which would probably be very tired after these last 2 games) won't hurt us as much as they might have if we were playing a team like the Dogs.

IMHO the keys to us winning (and these are far from revolutionary - pretty much the same for every game against the Bombers) are keeping Hird and Jason Johnson quiet in the midfield and not letting them get quick delivery to Lloyd and Lucas - Lucas in particular needs to be kept outside about 60m for shots on goal. For us, we need to get the ball moving into our forward line alot quicker than we did last night to allow Hall, O'Loughlin et al alot more space to work in, rather than relying on pinpointing passes into a sea of players (which we struggle to do with our lower skill level) and we need to try and run the Bombers off their feet (a tough ask considering the last 2 games we've played).

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

The Bombers didn't look too slow against the Cats on Friday night! We should have the skills over them but (as those who have played the Doggies lately) there really is no easy game. Have to win the rest (and hope the Roos don't get their percentage up).

Bad choice - Essendon supporters are the pits. I am already dreading it. After the civilised supporters in Sydney the Essendon fans will come as a shock. Also as it is a fully ticketed game it may be difficult to sit amongst Swans supporters. I still haven't decided whether to pay the extra above the membership to get seats early or just arrive at 5pm and get them for free. Any suggestions from other Melbourne members?

Lovett and to a lesser extent Stanton, have added some pace to the Bombers. The former needs to be reined in.

I hope that Jimmy Hirds dummy spit lowers morale at Windy Hill.
Hird was ever so sour after being benched repeatedly by Sheeds of Friday night and made it know by directing some nice words his way after a goal and by sulking off after the team song.
Not what you want from a team captain and thats got to be positive for the other players

What's happening with the tickets for the game? Something about a normal Melbourne membership isn't all you need?

We turned up at Ticketmaster counter in the Arts Centre and they didn't have access to level 3. So we gave them the flick and rang up, asking for "the Essendon game". No trouble getting seats on the wing on level 3, and then told the guy we were Swans members. Result: $50 to upgrade the three tickets. Fine by me, ideal position as I don't like sitting behind the goals.
He reminds him of the guys, close-set, slow, and never rattled, who were play-makers on the team. (John Updike, seeing Josh Kennedy in a crystal ball)

It will be interesting to see how we go coming off a loss. We haven't had many for quite a while and I think that one hurt. Will we lose heart or strike back?
