    Round 18 Positives

Definitely a good week for this thread to help cheer people up, so everyone can remember that you watch footy for enjoyment.

The biggest positive is that following up from the West Coast match (and the previous 2 games in what looked to be a horror month) the Swans were the dominant side for all except 15 minutes of the game. To be able to exert, sustain and soak up the intense pressure last night was a truely fantastic effort. Sure our goal-kicking let us down, but that is the only thing that went wrong last night.

    Oh . . . and losing.

The absolute positive of the game was Adam Goodes. He was in devastating form and must have put away three Brownlow votes last night. Others on the team tried hard but I doubt if many Adelaide fans are sticking to the "Goodes - worst player to win a Brownlow" line today.

Kirk was not too far behind him. Bottled up Roo and still found space himself. He has to be regarded as a star of the AFL now. And how incredibly consistent he is.

Worst player to win a Brownlow? Surely Woewoeful takes the cake there?

It was a Big Footy thread recently.

Another positive - I was running late for the club and didn't have time to put $50 on the Swans. More champagne anyone?

          The continued development of LRT.

And the Sydney biased radio commentary on MMM.It is so nice to hear our vibes coming from an interstate match rather than just Sydney have got the ball etc..

And does anyone remember when every time Goodes used to have the ball in our forward 50 he'd either miss or pass it off? Now we almost expect him to run in and, boom, goal or get the tricky set shot.

Goodes's best game for a long time. It was awesome in the last quarter. That Adelaide was kept under rein for most of the game and only conversion probably cost a win.

Though it was not high scoring, the first two quarters were my positives. The boys just dominated. It was great to watch at the ARC -- it felt like we were playing a GF. Atmosphere was electric!
But back to my thoughts, I was really impressed with the way they hounded Adelaide: they pushed and shoved and pressured and thumped them. If only were were able to keep that up for another two quarters. *sigh*

Nonetheless, it was disappointing they lost, but the first half was great, tough footy!
PS: the roar of the crowd at the ARC when LRT did anything (because last night it was all good!) was fabulous. He's really coming along nicely. Provost has taken a a dislike to his current hairstyle

And you can't find nothing at all,
If there was nothing there all along.

                  Goodes.

                  Kirk.

Intensity in first half and last quarter.

                  LRT becoming useful.

                    Round 18 positives

Adelaide hasn't lost at home and if we had kicked the goals we would have won. I wouldn't mind playing them there again in the finals.

They've lost twice at home. West Coast and Brisbane.

Goodes was amazing, Kirk did well on Roo and LRT impressed. The comittment and tackling, particularly in the first half, was impressive too. All up, a great game to watch - not pretty, but you couldn't fault the comittment of players from either side. The lack of regard for personal safety was at times breathtaking.

                          Where do I start ?

At random , straight off the top of my head :

                          1.Vogels is back

2.He and the other youngsters will benefit from the experience of playing away to a good side with a hostile(if subdued) crowd.

                          3.Goodes is getting even better.

4.The players learned they can beat Adelaide. They didn't , of course , but they must now realise they CAN.

5.They kept a strong attacking outfit to a low score.

6.We didn't pick up any severe injuries.

Adelaide at AAMI looks a lot less scary than before.

You people really watched the whole game? I switched during the 3rd quarter to the Buldogs vs. Lions game. It was more entertaining and followed the Crows vs. the Swans scores on internet.
