Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

How come you didn't bring up FH calling for Roos' sacking early in the season as an example of people getting ahead of themselves?

I thought I did. If not, then so many other people did I didn't think it was necessary to add my voice too!

As far as this thread goes, I don't think it hurts - mainly because I'm pretty sure no players are posting in it. Just as negativity doesn't affect the players when it's expressed here, neither does positivity.

I'm cautiously excited and have thought about what would be best for us but I'm a bit more focussed on using this season to set us up for a real crack next year.

I'd certainly prefer to play Adelaide at AAMI in the first week of the finals. It'd be a really tough ask, but better than facing the Weagles at Subi IMO. I don't think Saturday's match should be taken as any sort of indicator of how we may stack up against the Crows in an away QF. Finals are an entirely different situation to home-and-away games. Further to that, there's a chance that the final (should we qualify it) would be played in the day time, leading to entirely different conditions. IMO the conditions on Sat suited us more than they did the Crows.

As others have said, can't afford to get too ahead of ourselves. We've considered the best-case scenario, but it might also be worthwhile to consider the other possibilities:

            1. The Kangaroos are our primary competition for a top 4 spot. In rounds 19-22, they have Collingwood at TD, St Kilda at TD, Swans at SCG and Carlton at TD. Lets assume they win rounds 19 and 22, and lose 20, which is probably the most likely scenario. Should they beat us, we could finish in either 4th or 5th (assuming other games go in our favour), depending on the respective percentages.

            2. Finishing 5th-8th becomes even more likely if scenario #1 happens, and we lose another of our remaining four games.

            3. Worst-case scenario: we lose the majority of our remaining matches and slip out of the 8.

Of these, I guess only 1 and 2 are really likely. In which case we can finish anywhere from 4-8. So how do people rate our chances if we end up finishing in 5th-8th? Should we finish 5th, we could play a home elim final against one of Geelong, Brisbane, Melbourne, Freo or Richmond (with Port and the Dogs also an outside chance of finishing 8th). I would fancy our chances against the majority of those teams given current form, with perhaps Brisbane the most serious threat.

And hopefully doing a better job of defending our flag than Port has done this year.

Today I spoke to the Weagles friend I hosted recently. We discussed the chances that I'd be over in Perth in September. But I'd only regard that as getting ahead of myself if I'd booked the ticket.
