Round 19 Positives

Another solid win to keep us in the top 4.

Two big positives for me, being Adam Goodes improved accuracy from a set shot (something he has had plenty of trouble with for many years) and the fact that after such a tough month of games, the team came out and continued to play tough and eak out a win when so many times in the past a swans team has had a massive let down. This team is definitely a lot mentally stronger than what we have seen in seasons past.

A solid four quarter effort against an opponent that wasn't going to make it easy for us. And generally we managed to resist the temptation to argue with the umps...and were we tempted!

We'd played a couple of very tough physical games but there seemed to be no let down in our intensity.

Contributions from pretty much everyone.

Magic continuing to show how threatening he can be without having to kick a bag of goals.

Craig Bolton doing a fantastic job on Lucas who had been on fire the past few weeks.

1. Luke Ablett's attack on the ball was excellent. He seemed to be everywhere.

Improved accuracy from O'Keefe, even though he did miss one sitter.

Magic continuing to remind us of how he got his nickname.

Nog's continued confidence and endeavour. Love his long kicking, both from the centre under pressure and at goal.

Fact that we won without anyone really starring - Hall obviously was a key contributor but last night he just did his bread and butter stuff, rather than some of his game-busting heroics that sometimes are required to get us over the line. Williams, Goodes and Davis were contributors, but as three of the most naturally talented players in the team, are capable of providing more. The fact that we are efficiently winning without all our better players playing particularly well indicates room for further improvement - which we'll need.

Also pleased by Kennelly's game. Was very concerned early that he was matched up against Hird but he went OK. More importantly, he is regaining his confidence at bursting away from the defensive 50.

Vogels composure and all-round contribution was another pleasing aspect. He did all that can be expected of the 5th or 6th forward in the team.

Isn't it nice to have a player that can (and does) throw it onto his boot and give us some distance. The next step in his development is to realise when he has more time and aim his kicks more deliberately.

Interesting that - C Bolton was the real standout and besides that the team simply played well as a cohesive group.

Mrs H is not a big fan of footy these days. But she commented on how MOL was magic when he got the ball. I then pointed out that was his nickname!!!

Another great overall team effort. After a hard month of footy and being on the road for the second week in a row, they still managed to dig deep and finish the game off.

I am so proud to follow this team, don't have the most talent going around but everyone plays disciplened footy and as a team we are the equal or better than the rest of the comp.

Great to see the large Swans section of the crowd give the boys a very noisy and well deserved cheer off the ground.

Should be a cracker of a game next week, hopefully the weather is fine and the ground hard so we can run those Lions off their feet.
