Saddo vs Dempster

Where is Saddo at? I assume he is fully fit as he's played in the last few ressies games, and has featured in the team's best.

Coming into the business end of the season, would he be a better choice as a half back flanker than Dempster, who currently is doing a decent defensive job, but probable doesnt give us that much drive forward.

No, Schauble would be the best choice, with his intelligent football and accurate disposal out of defence.

I think Cruiser means to move Leo to HBF and put Schauble in at FB.

That's a different argument, about whether Schauble is in Roos' plans for FB anymore, or if he prefers Leo's mobility and Speed against the slower, bulkier full forwards.

Both ordinary. Put in someone who has a future at the club and has something to offer. Schmidt must be close.

Can't see Schmidt getting a game this year barring any major run of injuries. All games have too much riding on them to throw a kid in, untried. Looks like he will have to wait for 2006.

Was just commenting to a colleague that I thought Schmidt might be in with a chance this weekend if Jude fails to come up. He deserves a go, and Malceski and Moore have already been given a taste.

I think it's important that the likes of Schmidt and Willoughby see that senior football is a realistic goal in the near future or they might leave to seek opportunities elsewhere.

That's starting to concern me a bit too because, from what I have seen, they both look like they will make it as AFL players. Most kids would expect to get a taste of first team footy during their second year so I could understand them being a bit disappointed. They are both South Australians too from memory so lack of game time would definitely increase the levels of "homesickness".

Woops, sorry, I didnt read the post properly. I was reading back flanker (as in back pocket). I think I need to get more sleep. Maybe I just want to see solid, safe, sensible Schauble somewhere, anywhere, in our back line.

It's definitely frustrating - obviously for them but also for us. The question is, who do you drop?

Hall, O'Keefe, Bolton, Williams, Jolly, Kennelly, O'Loughlin, Ablett, Barry, Bolton, Ball, Crouch, Roberts-Thomson, Kirk, Buchanan and Goodes aren't going anywhere - especially for midfielders in most cases.

Davis has been a bit disappointing in recent weeks as far as I'm concerned, but going into the finals he's not going to be dropped either. That leaves Mathews, Fosdike, Schneider, Dempster and Vogels. Of those, Mathews is probably safe, even if he shouldn't be.

So that's four spots for them to compete for... along with McVeigh, Maxfield, Saddington, Schauble, Moore and Malceski, all of whom probably have stronger claims. Unfortunately, I just don't see how we can squeeze them in.

Yes, I think that too. Leo was getting flogged by Lloyd in the first half on Saturday night and I was sitting there wishing Schauble was at least on the bench so that he could be brought on. I think Leo's run is much better used in the half back line.
