Excellent observation, and one I have always shared. Maybe its the Ablett name that has done it to him, and the comparisons that would have invariably been made to his cousins and uncle when he was a kid growing up. Since he probably doesn't have the supreme skill of the other Ablett's, maybe he second-guesses his disposals at times.

Certainly in this team he is coming to learn the massive contribution he can make just by playing as he can, and it seems to show in his willingness to get the ball and dispose of it long.

I also think if he was ever to move back to Melbourne the publicity might well destroy his career.

Uncles, plural. Remember Gary began life as the underachieving little brother of Geoff.

Nog's already done better than his father (I can't recall seeing Kevin play) and part of that success may be because of Sydney, he'd be mad to go to Victoria.

So Luke is actually NOGG & SOK? Is that correct? The family tree confuses me somewhat. Was Kev the eldest?

Geoff was eldest IIRC and an outstanding wingman.

          Kevin was middle.

            Players DO NOT improve!

If you have seen a player play one or maybe two games in the seniors you know what the rest of their career is going to be. Ablett is still bad, so is LRT, Kirk is still rubbish. Malceski is not seniors material IMHO and should be delisted. That goes for Vogels as welll... why we persist with him I will never know. Delist him or trade him.

You sure about all those examples being tongue in cheek. After all, LRT kicked 2 in his first game, what's he done since then??

I KNEW I would get called on something like that!

                  God, this forum...!

Isn't LRT a member of the "absolute shocker of a first AFL kick" club? I like that club better than the first kick = goal club (thats boring).

Yeah he is, scrubbed his first kick, but then kicked a goal with his 2nd, and kicked another one later that game.

Bloody! Another thread turned into a LRT thread... and this time its MY fault! I am so, so sorry everyone.

I was advocating freeing up Noggy from his tagging roles last year.

I think he could turn into our elite midfielder when Willo retires. I think the bloke is a gun and will keep improving. His kicking is generally awesome and just needs to get rid of it a bit quicker at times.

if there's any justice he'll be in our top 5 for the best and fairest this year.

That's absolutely true. Where the hell has Goodes taken his game since Eade left? Baz will never control his temper and as you say Kirk is purely a tagger and we either have to live with that or get rid of him.

Oh, some get old and fall off the pace. Like what does Magic contribute these days? I'm with Footyhead - time to rebuilt and every time they make a mistake, drag them then replace them! (And that starts from the top down - Nicks is now available to replace Roos, too.)

Not sure about that. It can be huge, but it can be wayward. Not sure how much he's able to pick out players with pinpoint accuracy.

In fact we have two enormous kicks with dodgy radar, Nog can be wayward and Dempster can overshoot a target.
Here's hoping they spend summer playing kick to kick, 65 metres apart!
