    Nicks' announcement on future today

Matthew Nicks will make an announcement on his future this arvo. I'm guessing it'll be one of retirement now or at seasons end due to ongoing injury!

It's unlikely to be to announce his bid for 2006 captaincy. Shame, a good 'un that lost his way for one reason or another.

We'll always have that shirtfront on Hardwick.

        A shame, if it's a retirement message.

At his best, he was one of my favourites. His games against the Saints and Weagles last year where he starred, in completely different roles, showcased his diverse skills and overall football talent.

          Bloody hell.

This is where incorrect syntax scares me.

I thought you meant Nick Davis (ie "Nick's") rather than Matthew Nicks (ie, "Nicks' ").

Anyway, enough from the grammar police. Sad for Nicksy as he is (was) a good swingman, could play tall and a good mark for his height. Pity he couldn't kick a set shot for goal, or he'd've been an ideal small forward that would be very tough to match up.

He's had a good run and can imagine he's be around the footy club for many years to come in a Runner, media, personality type.

I think he would have a lot to offer the boys in an off-field role.

              What he said!

                Ditto.

One classic example where the punctuation clearly changes the meaning of what was said. For one brief moment I too thought that Davis had decided to join the Sharks!

                  OK, all fixed now!

Sydney stalwart Matthew Nicks has drawn the curtain on his 11-year AFL career.
                      Here's the story.

I guess it was time but still sad to see someone like Nicksy go. A very decent man and a handy footballer too. Hope he stays aroung the club next year in some sort of role, but he may well want a break from it all after 11 years.

Sorry about the grammar..... I'll try and remember for next time when I mention the Davis's, the Nicks's, the Halls's, the Boltons's.

Congrats nicks. Excellent career and a great player down back or in the forward line. Quite unfortunate because he could still keep playing.
Using hypothesis testing via confidence intervals:
Nick Davis mark inside 50 = goal
