    The Red V heritage jumper...

Should be the Swan's clash strip.

Over on Bigfooty, the Red V is being given more praise than any other heritage jumper. With the white back and predominantly white front, it effectively changes the appearance of the Swans jumper without changing the colours. It's an effective nod to history.

    It's the only logical choice.

It's a no-brainer really. Would actually be good to see it used in Melbourne even in games where a clash strip is not a necessity.

    I'm on the Chandwagon!!!

If you cannot compete for the premiership, it's better to be young and exciting than middle-aged and dowdy.

Why ask the question if you're (as usual) dictating the answer?

Do other people have a relevant view?
"As a player he simply should not have been able to do the things he did. Leo was a 185cm, 88kg full-back and played on some of the biggest, fastest and best full-forwards of all time, and constantly beat them." Roos.
Leo Barry? you star! We'll miss ya, ''Leapin''.

If anyone from the club is reading this website, please, please, please let the team play in the Red V in Melbourne and as our clash strip.

I can't see a negative side to this happening, a win/win for eveyone:

        * Looks great
        * A nod to the past
        * Retains our colours in a clash stirp

          Even in the Grand Final?

Yeah would be good. But somehow our away strip would prob only be socks. Who do we really clash with apart from Melbourne with socks?

At least we don't wear those horrid white shorts no more.

I'm establishing a hypothesis (that most Swans supporters want the Red V as the clash strip)... so that I can then say something like this:

If anyone from the club is reading this website, please, please, please let the team play in the Red V in Melbourne and as our clash strip.
... with confidence that it has reasonably strong support.

Not dictating the answer - I'm putting forward my view. 'Dictating the answer' suggests that I'm somehow demanding that people say what I want them to say...

Nah! But for H & A would be good idea. Other finals in Melb also (maybe).

GF though ONLY where there is clash and we are the designated 'away' team. GF is not a Melbourne event - it just happens to be there.

                  Agree 100%.

Also - I think the 'V for Victoria' thing doesn't really apply. Certainly, the Red V is closely associated with South Melbourne, but it was also the club's first jumper in Sydney. It's an acknowledgement of history - not necessarily an acknowledgement of Melbourne.

It's the association with pre-82 that justifies using it when not required by a clash - there is no other justification

Either the red sash, or do what Essendon and Richmond do - wear their regular guernseys and make it look like its from 100 years ago or whatever.

The Red Sash on a White Background maybe

We have a few jumpers in our past that we could go with in Heritage Round.

(I think the abovequoted post is the 100,000th post in the RWO section, with the exclusion of those posts lost to the infernal spawn of evil.)

I do like the red V as the clash jumper. It won't be the first heritage jumper that has been adopted as a clash strip (St Kilda).

But I like having the jumper that everybody talks about after Heritage Round!

I do like the red sash quite a bit.
