I actually find the white jumper quite ugly.

The whole red thing works much better IMO. It matches the shorts.

Yes, I think the Red V should be the away strip.

Not dictating the answer - I'm putting forward my view. 'Dictating the answer' suggests that I'm somehow demanding that people say what I want them to say...

That's exactly what you're doing by suggesting that anyone who disagrees with your "only logical choice" is illogical.

What, so noone can disagree with me because I'll think they're illogical?

          What rot.

Yeah, maybe. But the white looks MUCH better with jeans!

Actually, I saw the St George League club's guernsey on the news tonight, and with white shorts a white top doesn't look as bad.

Maybe if they adopted the white shorts (which is traditional for away games anyway) it might work.

Which is why the 2006 strips should be:

Dark: Red back, red shorts, solid red socks.

Light: White back, white shorts, hooped socks.

It looks terrible if you try to mix & match them.

177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Fremantles all white kit doesn't look that bad, so the Red V with white shorts and red socks would be acceptable in my opinion.

P.S That all red SMFC logo jumper from 1921 would be a good candidate for the heritage round in future.

Does anyone have the e-mail address for the Melbourne based director?

Would love to get everyone from this site to e-mail him to show the support for the Red V as our away jumper.

I agree with that - that way you keep an important Sydney element in the guernsey.

There's nothing surer to alienate the hard earned fans that have been won down here than this. It would come across as extraordinarily half-hearted and cynical.

Either the club puts the effort in, or it doesn't. But that would be absolutely horrible.

If it's true that all clubs do have to have a clash strip next year, then yes, the Red V would be perfect. Even though we don't really clash with any other team, I'd still like to see it worn when ever we are the away team playing against another team with red as one of their colours (ie Melbourne, Essendon, Saints mainly, to a lesser extent Crows, Dogs, Freo). It should also be worn for all away games against Brisbane, since the maroon and the red are pretty close. These are the only teams that we would really need to wear a clash strip against - this would make the teams stand out even more, and make it even easier for the spectators/TV viewers. The white shorts would work well with this IMO along the lines of Freo's all white clash strip. All other H&A games, and all finals, we should wear our current 'home' strip.

To me it's not as important that we wear it for all games in Melbourne - anyway, based on my suggestion, we'd be wearing it for half the games in Melbourne anyway.

Great to see sydneysiders embracing the clubs history.

Please dont buy into that argument. Many of us Sydneysiders embrace and respect Sydney's South Melbourne history.

Get over it, the Swans are now the Sydney Swans.

It is only you who keeps rattling on about alienating hard won Melbourne based supporters. Don't force your opinion on other less childish Melbourne based members.
