Dogs' "home game" to stay?

The AFL shouldn't allow teams to play their home games at opposition venues, It's completely unfair. The draw is allready uneven enough.

If you were a Bulldogs supporter I would agree with your sentiments, however being a Swannies fan, I'll take any extra advantage we can, including an extra game on our home turg the SCG.Originally posted by BayseysLeftBoot

In any case, it's the Bulldogs decision, they are not forced to play up here.Swannies for life!Comment

I don't want to get into the Sydney vs Melbourne stuff that mention of this games brings up, but in plain, unbiased, logical terms, Sydney and Brisbane have the most travel of any teams in the comp (numbers of games, not kilometers) without having an extra "away" game at home, so doesn't it actually even the draw up just a teensy bit for those teams to play an "away" match on their home turf?Originally posted by BayseysLeftBoot

What about WC and Freo? Besides the fact that it robs me of an extra oppourtunity to watch the swans play I don't believe in the idea full stop. It gives the away teams an unfair advantage over teams fighting them for ladder positions. I don't have a problem with teams moving their games to mutual venues such as manuka or hobart. The uneven way in which the AFL fixture is drawn is allready laughable. No other sport in the world would employ such ridiculous ideas in a profesional league.Originally posted by swansrock4eva

By playing each other twice - they get an away game at Subiaco, so they each play 12 at Subi.Originally posted by BayseysLeftBoot

Brisbane and Sydney also get that advantage now by the games bought from Melbourne and the Bulldogs.
I love it, a home game is a home game. I get the Melbourne fans totally, but if the AFL look after us with 6 or 7 still down there still, the Swans win full stop.Comment

We get 11-12 true home games, whereas many Vic teams get virtually neutral home games when they play other Vic teams at the MCG, etc, so it's a pretty complex discussion. You have to consider all of the issues if you are going to properly analyse it.Originally posted by swansrock4eva

Normally on most topics discussion consists of branding people as negative or moaners, unless they're positive. Considering all the issues and analysing would be anathema to some in the context of football.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

(I'm quite proud of the puns in that sentence.) You forget to add that: positive = Pollyanna for many, too. But we do go into some depth there - for superficial try BigFooty.Comment

I was thinking asthma! You, no doubt, had your mind somewhere in the Ponds institute with the Ponds Cold Cream and other essential oils.
But as much as I laughed - I bet we better go back to footy discussion or this thread will go to that great unravelling place known only to moderators.
Over at BigFooty you just have to post that the Swans are great and the other teams can't/won't/don't want to win finals and that keeps the gang happy for hours of diatribes.Comment
