Please not Vogels!!!! He's become a real favourite.

Surely it would be better to rest one of the senior guys who has more experience in having a week off, then to disrupt the progress of a youngster. IIRC, Maxfield's form in the 2s wasn't terribly impressive, and I'd really rather he get a little more match fitness.

Besides, why change a good thing? Maxfield in the team clearly didn't help amazingly at the start of the year. Once he stepped aside, things started happening. Not that the two are directly related, but if we're really trying to make this year THE year, surely it's best to stick to what's working.

I'd be dreadfully surprised if Stuey gets a game this week. No change for the 3rd week in a row.

Stuey hasn't earnt a spot in the seniors. His form in the ressies has been nothing short of pathetic.

He got (allegedly) injured in his last game in the seniors, so that's hardly fair. From what I heard, he may had been injured for games prior to the WC debacle.

He had been carrying an injury prior to his final senior game.

I think the answer may lie with this article from the Swans site, quoting PR (summarised):

"You have to go in with the team who is going to represent the club in the first week of the finals.

"So look we won't be resting any players this week, we respect Hawthorn as an opposition and they are going to have a real crack and we need to as well."

Roos admitted if any players were questionable, they would err on the side of caution.

However, he does not expect to make any changes with ruckman Jason Ball, who suffered a corked thigh last weekend, set to play.

"One thing with form and the way we are going about our football is it's hard to find a bad player so it might be another week where we go in with an unchanged side," he said.

"Based on results and the way we are playing, though things can change, we seem to have the right balance on the bench, we seem to have the right balance forward and the right number of midfielders, so on balance the team seems to be alright from the last few weeks."

If the coaches decide to bring Maxfield in of course.

I hope they don't change the side, but I am inclined to think they will at some at some stage. I think the club's moral obligation to play a loyal servant and former leader of the side before his retirement is more important to them than the ethics of team selections. ie. whether or not a player deserves to be selected or omitted.

It seems like a few people think Roos is lying when he says he won't change the team for this weekend. I hope you are right.

..And this is where we could fail this year. We have one huge opportunity to win the comp this year and if we make changes due to compassionate grounds it could be our down fall. If we wanna get compassioante then give Stuey his send off game this week, then that will be it.

And if he kicks five goals??

It seems like everyone here thinks Stewie is a crap player. That's not the image I have of him. Or is this based purely on his form of early 2005 when his world and body were falling apart?

I would bring Stewie in and play him out of defence. His long kicking and run could be a very effective attacking weapon
