Their backline works together well as a team, but individually is not as good if they don't get support. We saw this on Friday when Essendon spread their forwards out and hence were able to beat their opponents one-on-one. We have the talent in our forward line to do that too. Their midfield should be better than ours, but if we aren't too badly beaten in the midfield then it will be up to our forwards to make the most of our opportunities, as I expect we will lave less Inside 50s. If our forwards can operate well in this dispersed manner and the delivery is reasonable, then we have a chance.

Kirk has been one of our best in every game this year. We are expected to lose this game so surely now is a perfect time to offer "The Captain" a chance to step up and claim the great Buckley's scalp. Nothing really to lose and, possibly, an impoetant step in the development of the 2006 Premiership side."I'll acknowledge there are more talented teams in the competition but I won't acknowledge that there is a better team in the competition" Paul Roos March 2005Comment

Buckely is no.1 priorityOriginally posted by penga
id like to see maxy on licuria
 kirk on buckley
 crouch on o'bree
woey doesnt need a tag, he isnt damaging enough
Lica doesnt need a tag as he gets a lot of the ball but does nothing with it generally - infact he will probably be tagging one of our boys.
O'bree is doubtfall for a tag, probably the least effective midfielder out of the four.
However, woey is a tricky one - if the woey of last week shows up, he doesnt need a tag, but remember he won a brownlow and on his day can be more damaging than buckley, so I say leave him be, but if he starts looking dangerous apply the tag straight away, cause he cant cope with tags.No.1 ticket holder of Nick Davis Fan Club...Comment

Going on past experience, when we (Collingwood) played Brisbane at TD, they moved Bolton onto Tarrant and he finished with 5 goals.

Tarrant also kicked 4 on Saddington last year with a last quarter goal spree to basically win us the match. You may able to get away with playing Barry on him because he has the speed and a good leap, His lack of height may be a problem. In previous years you could have got away with playing a smaller player on him but now he is playing taller whilst using his speed to increase his marking power.

Rocca is the main worry match-up wise.
Saddington and Bolton aren't strong enough and lack height.
Shauble may be the option but he still gives away height and KG.

He had an absolute shocker on Friday. The amount of times he dropped a mark was amazing. As a fully fit (no niggles like last year) vice captain he was a huge dissapoinment. Malthouse would have been furious with him so he may have a big one, or not................!

Ditto with Fraser, you could get away with Saddington/Bolton due to his amazing ability to chest mark every ball . Molloy is also someone you could get away with playing a smaller player on. . Molloy is also someone you could get away with playing a smaller player on.

From what I saw in the Wizard Cup, that kid Powell looked the goods and he is on the bench for you this week.

With your forward line, Presti will get Hall and did quite well last time against him!

 Mckee should play on Ball/Mickeljohn

Cloke should play loose or even forward - No match-ups - No match-ups

Kinnear should get Goodes. - Close athletism.

Clement will get O'Loughlin. - Reliable.

Lonie should get Davis. - Can run off him due to his groin problems

Johnson should get Schneider. - Has the pace to run with him.

Of all the match-ups there, the Kinnear/Goodes and the Clement/O'Loughlin give the the most cause for concern.

Kinnear is a good athlete and may have the physical strenght to match him but I doubt he has the defensive skills to. He plays to loose.

O'Loughlin always seems to trouble us. Hopefully Clement can do the job after having a shocker last week.

Last year Burns and O'bree did well at the stoppages with Buckley being quelled by Creswell.

This year we have added Woewoden and Williams. Which means more midfield depth compared to last year.
As you may know, Woey had a pretty poor one with Williams having less influence over the last 2 weeks. Who knows how they'll play.
Licuria will play on either Williams or Maxfeild.

Yeah, I will you tosser. The way he was playing last year then he was close to trade bait. He needed to improve and he has. He's now playing fantastically, however if you knew that for certain last year, what are next week's tattslotto numbers...Where are all of you experts who said trade him ??

It was good to see us operating with a nicely spread forward line and deliver well into it. I think this is a key to beating Collingwood and we did it well.Captain Logic is not steering this tugboat.

Simple thing NMW Bloods - you can't recognise potential when it is staring you right in the face.

Both of ya, settle down ok? Keep the talk to footy and no one gets hurt (alternatively, keep the talk to how good it was to beat Eddie's mob, that'll also do!!) Keep the talk to footy and no one gets hurt (alternatively, keep the talk to how good it was to beat Eddie's mob, that'll also do!!)
177th Senior AFL Match - Round 4, 2009 - Sydney vs Carlton, SCG. This is obviously out of date. I suppose I'll update it once I could be bothered sitting down with the fixture and working it out....

Plenty of players with potential never amount to anything significant. Everyone could see the potential, but it was a matter of whether he did anything with it. At the time most were calling for his head he was struggling badly and had been for a while. I said give him to the end of the year, as did most others. He came through. What's the harm in asking for a bit more from the players. They're not untouchable.Originally posted by Roscoe

Good on NMW for being able to come out and admit he made a bad call.

Who really cares if someone does that?

I remember a few years ago, we were winning when Plugger was injured, and when he ws in, it seemed the opposition sides knew exactly how we'd be playing and we'd lose.

I was questioning his worth and looked like a fool when Plugger started starring.

I called for him to be traded, if his form didn't get any better. It got better and the idea was thrown out. The same with most here, we were upset at the fact we knew he had the skills, but he was not performing. Remember the whole "Trade Goodes" thing was this time last year and it didn't last too much longer because from that week he improved and hasn't looked back since. No doubt in my mind that he will be leading the Brownlow at this stage of the season. If he keeps the form up for the rest of the season, he'll take Charlie home.Once was, now elsewhereComment

For mine the absolute difference last night was that the whole team was committed to the contest and our disposal was very good.

No-one took a short step, we got numbers to the footy, made space, ran hard , tackled exceptionally hard and for 3 1/2 quarters pressured Collingwood into making mistakes. It was a bloody treat to watch and was an almost surreal feeling when we got 45 points up. We looked at each other and thought how good is this, but how long will we keep it going.

The best aspect of the game, however, is that when we were seriously challenged, we answered that challenge and refused to capitulate. Players like Williams, Maxfield, Ball and Cresswell lifted and rose to the occasion in the last 5 minutes, and played like hell to steady the ship. I could just feel we were going to hang on. As it was Collingwood needed to kick 8 goals to win, no easy task and even when they got a run on, it was a few quick breaks, not our bad play which got the goals. We were still going OK.Comment
